I am using windows 7 on a 64 bit with TB 3.0.4, webmail 1.3.6 and
webmail-yahoo 1.4.6. Thanks to a previous thread, I was able to get
Thunderbird to work with a yahoo test account. I am now trying with
the actual account, and I continue to get the above timeout error.
The connection to my localhost times out.

I think the login is the problem, not the timeout, because it's
timeing out while logging in. Logging in shouldn't take much time.
However, to cover all the bases, I changed the mailnews timeout length
from 100 to 600 following these instructions:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Modify_Thunderbird_settings
Nothing good happened anyway. It still times out on login.

Thanks again,
Becky

I have to add that I also made sure the actual account was the New
Yahoo rather than Yahoo Classic when I logged in via browser.

In Thunderbird's account setting can you try replacing localhost with
127.0.0.1

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I replaced localhost
with 127.0.0.1 as you suggested. I see no improvement. However, it
does currently believe it's downloading a message.
Thank you,
Becky

Wait, it's back to hanging at Connect: Host contacted, sending login
information...

A few days ago I was experiencing this timeout problem with Yahoo as
well.

Logging into Yahoo on the Web and going through a few new Yahoo
screens cleared the problem for me.

Please also note that the Webmail Author has provided a new "pre-
release" update to the Yahoo mail add-on in the files section of this
forum. I have installed this version and Yahoo continues to work well
for me.

I want to try what you did, alanrf. What exactly do you mean by "a
few new screens?"
Thank you,
Becky

Becky,
Sometimes when you log into a web mail service on its web site you are
presented with one or more screens (pages) usually of information about
new services that you have to "click through" to get to your mail. The
web mail extension can't cope with this, the program is expecting the
normal log-in page, then straight to the mail pages. The only way around
this is to visit the web mail site yourself using your browser of choice
and view these screens. Once you've seen these pages, your web mail
provider will then once more take you straight from log-in to your mail
whether in person using a browser or by the extension which emulates
your actions on the web site in logging in and reading your mail.

YEAH IT'S WORKING! Thanks everyone for the help, and thanks to the
WebMail add-on developer! This is so preferable to the html logon. I
futzed around with the YahooMail logon page a little. That seems to
be what got it to work, but there were no pages to click through as
described before. Whatev - all's well that ends well, at least in
this case.
