It looks like an entity I work with has updated their Exchange server
from 2003 to 2007, and now all of a sudden Thunderbird with Webmail
and Webmail-OWA no longer works. (could it be that Microsoft does not
want non-MS clients to be able to access their mail servers?)

I've downloaded and installed the latest versions of both the Webmail
and Webmail-OWA plug-ins and still no-go.

After hours of searching and reading various groups, forums, and
emails there seems to be no current solution, even though this problem
has existed for years. It looks like the latest version was added to
the file download section on July 1, so I assume it is still being
maintained, at least for the older versions of Exchange.

I also see several older inquiries related to this in various places,
but they all seem to just end abruptly with no resolution, so I would
like to finally get this resolved. I don't care whether it's resolved
with a solution, or a statement that it will no longer be maintained,
I need to know so I can move on to another email client if necessary.

So I was wondering if anyone knows who maintains the Webmail-OWA
source or if it is still being maintained and updated?

Thanks for any responses

The OWA Xpi Got lost off the file server and it wasn't compatible with
TB3.1. The install file was change to allow it to install in TB3.1
versions. No other changes were made at that time.

It isn't that no one want to maintain this xpi but without access to
an Exchange 2007 or 2010 mail server changes are very difficult for
anyone to do without pure guess work. The Webmail Author had wrote
that he has a new version written but has no way to test it prior to
completing his work so he can not release it. He need to see how the
interface works in order get things working correctly.

Part of the problem is that the Exchange systems admins are afraid to
allow anyone access to their servers. In my opinion without some co-
operation from them, the OWA xpi probably won't be updated for awhile.

Thanks for the reply. In the meantime I have found a solution for
anyone else that may be interested. It is a gateway called DavMail
Gateway --- http://davmail.sourceforge.net/

This can run standalone on your PC alongside your email client, or can
be put on a separate server and act as a gateway for multiple clients.
You can use the gateway to access OWA via POP3 or IMAP,

It's unfortunate that you have to run an extra service, but it will
suffice until WebMail-OWA has been updated or Exchange access has been
built-in to Thunderbird.
