I have set up WebMail 1.3.2 with Yahoo 1.4.2 (Beta) and have set up my
Yahoo! account with all of the proper specifications. However, when I
try to check mail, the following error message pops up.

Could not connect to server localhost; the connection was refused.

I tried checking my Norton (16.5.0.135) Smart Firewall Program Control
to see if I could remedy this. I allowed Thunderbird to access ports
25 and 110, but nothing changed. What do I need to do now?

In your account settings try changing localhost for 127.0.0.1

Try using 127.0.0.1 instead of "localhost", this has corrected this
problem for many Vista users.

Thank you, this worked like a charm.

To stuart gordon: Here are the settings I have (on my Vista):

Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.21
WebMail add-on 1.3.2
WebMail Yahoo add-on 1.4.2
E-mail address: user...@yahoo.com
Server type: POP
POP server name: 127.0.0.1
POP port: 110
Use secure connection: never
SMTP server name: 127.0.0.1
SMTP port: 25
Use name and password: yes
SMTP user name: user...@yahoo.com
Use secure connection: no

Hope this helps.

Oh, and under Tools>Add-ons>WebMail>Options, make sure ports 110 and
25 are running. Under Tools>Add-ons>WebMail - Yahoo>Options, I have
BETA Web site selected. I believe that you should select "New Classic
Website" selected if you use Yahoo! Mail Classic, but if you use the
current e-mail layout, I'm pretty sure you have to select BETA.
