I have created a Serenity/Cucumber "Hello World" app, but I've noticed that Serenity will not read system properties from Maven POM file. It reads system properties from the serenity.properties file without issue, but it totally ignores system properties defined in the Maven pom.xml file. I am using Serenity version 1.0.51 and Serenity Maven version 1.0.47.

You need to pass the properties from the POM into the JUnit JVM using the Surefire/Failsafe plugin (http://maven.apache.org/surefire/maven-surefire-plugin/examples/system-properties.html)
