Hi,

I have question about the browser compatibility of serenity bdd project.
as of now from maven dependency I can see that it use selenium 2.53.
so what browser version for Firefox and chrome  or IE is compatible with the latest release of Serenity BDD?
I downgraded my Firefox it's working fine , but for chrome , after downgrading , it is just opening the browser
but not navigating to the page which I believe still compatibility issue.

I would appreciate if you can provide specific browser compatibility matrix for the project.

Thanks

Ike

Hi,

As you mention, the browser compatibility is dependent on Selenium (version 2.53 currently), so the best place to look for a version matrix would be the Selenium documentation. The Chrome issue does sound like a version compatibility issue. We can upgrade to Selenium 3 at any point, but unfortunately the GeckoDriver (https://github.com/mozilla/geckodriver) is still feature-incomplete. At the moment, Selenium 3 doesn't pass the Serenity smoke tests, which indicates missing Selenium functionality and broken backward compatibility. Since the APIs have significantly changed as well, it is impossible to have a backward compatible version, so once Serenity moves to Selenium 3, everyone will have to use Selenium 3 (and Java 8). For this reason, we prefer to wait for it to be more stable.
