Most of the photos taken with the high-definition camera of the Galaxy phone are large. If you upload photos online and your photos are too large, you can simply resize them with the editing features of the Gallery app. Resize the photo by following the steps below.

For Android 11, when you save the edited photo, the original photo will be overwritten instead of creating a new one. If you want to save it separately from the original, follow the steps below before tapping Save.

As an Android user, you may have come across situations where you want to share an image but it is too large to send via email or upload on social media. This is where resizing an image on Android comes in handy. In this article, I will guide you through the process of how to resize an image on Android using both built-in tools and third-party apps.

There are several reasons why you may need to resize an image on Android. Firstly, large image files take up more space on your device, which can slow down its performance. Secondly, resizing an image makes it easier to share via email or social media, as many platforms have size limitations. Thirdly, resizing an image can help you save on data usage when uploading or sharing it.

Android devices come with built-in tools that allow you to resize images without the need for third-party apps. The process varies slightly depending on the version of Android you are using, but here are the general steps:

Q: What is the best size for an image on social media? A: The ideal size for social media images varies depending on the platform, but a general rule of thumb is to aim for a resolution of at least 1080 x 1080 pixels.

Resizing images on Android is a useful skill that can help you save space, data, and time. Whether you choose to use built-in tools or third-party apps, it is important to remember to make a copy of the original image before resizing and to consider the purpose of the image when choosing a size. With the tips and step-by-step guides provided in this article, you should now be able to resize images on Android with ease.

Problem: While using scrolltrigger pin on an input field, android devices loses the ability to keep their focus on that field. I found some related issues on Stackoverflow, here and here. I am fighting this issue for a week and after losing the battle, I need some help regarding it.

Howdy, @PixeledCode. Are you saying you think this is a ScrollTrigger issue? If you remove ScrollTrigger from the equation, do you still see the issue? We really try to keep these forums focused on GSAP-specific questions, that's all. We spend an inordinate amount of time helping people for free here and we have limited resources

ah yes, I understand and I really appreciate what you guys are doing. And yes, if I remove the scrolltrigger from input field, I lose the pinning ability but then it works perfectly on android as well. So what I think is that there is some issue in android maybe and gsap scrolltrigger is triggering it?

I have a vague memory of some bug in Android (not GSAP/ScrollTrigger) that caused the browser to basically treat the hit area for position: fixed elements as if it isn't position: fixed. In other words, the interactive hit area scrolls up out of the viewport even though the element itself doesn't! Super weird, right? And I could be remembering incorrectly here, but I simply cannot imagine how ScrollTrigger could have anything to do with this issue. I'd bet that if you remove ScrollTrigger from the equation but just nest your element inside another one (similar to what pinning does) and set your element to position: fixed and you'll see the issue happen (proving it's not ScrollTrigger).

Have you tried wrapping your element in another or something? I wonder if Android's bug is specific to inputs that have position: fixed or something, but if you put them in a parent that's position: fixed instead, maybe it'll help? If not, try doing that and adding a slight transform, even if it's y: 0.01. The key is to find something that triggers the browser to render properly.

Yeah, what I mean is try reproducing just the HTML/CSS structure of what ScrollTrigger is doing for the pinning. Remove ScrollTrigger completely. See if that HTML/CSS structure is causing the problem (it must be). Then try to isolate further. See what properties you can alter to correct the behavior.

ScrollTrigger doesn't do anything with focus. Feel free to check the source code. If you can't reproduce the problem apart from ScrollTrigger, my best guess would be that Android has a bug related to merely checking the scroll position or something like that (perhaps that causes it to lose focus). Try running this and seeing if it helps at all:

I added some docs now. Sometimes I build features in that I intentionally don't document initially just to see if it's even needed. Then, if the need arises, the feature is already baked in and we can just put some docs around it. If the feature never ends up really being helpful in the real world, we can quietly remove it

I guess ideally there would be a setting in the mail app that could downsize all the photos, but I don't see that in any Android mail apps. Another ideal thing would be an Android app like Instasize that could resize multiple photos and then email them. I can't find one.

Android doesn't have such a feature built-in. But there are several apps available a.o. at Google Play which can help you out (for a list, see Other photo editors on my site). One of those is JustResizeIt!, which also offers batch-resizing:

Is it possible to freely customize sizing of an image on the HP Smart app on my android galaxy Note8 phone? The only selection i have is crop and rotation. I've used the Brother app and it's a simple pinch to resize which makes my job so much easier, but I love the HP instant ink service. I really hope there is a way to freely resize an image, because printing it, then having to resize a copy loses quality and costs me an extra page every time i have to resize something. Please help. Thanks!

Thanks for your advice, but that only gives me the option to fill page or fit to page. I need to be able the freely shrink or enlarge an image with a free-form tool. I am a tattoo artist, so changing the size of our designs with precision and ease is very important. It seems this is still not possible with this new app. At my last shop, we had a cheap brother printer and the Android app allowed free-form resize among many more customizable settings. I know many, many artists stick with brother printers because of this. A simple free-form tool could help HP tap into a striving market.

Thanks, I found a free app called "Print Adjuster" on the google play store. A very small and simple yet robust app that allows free-form resizing, mirroring, crop, etc. Share an image to this app, resize, then hit print. The app will then open the HP Plug-in print service on Android. It's an extra step, but works. Thank you for the advice and I hope this post helps someone else out there.

I am trying to make a very simple android app (it's my first) showing 2 images, one at the top of the screen and one directly below., each taking up exactly half of the screen. Each of these buttons are ImageButtons. On clicking the button a new image appears.

I think I'm on track with the on click listener etc but it's the actual design that I'm struggling with. I have tried resizing the images in design view but it just won't work. I've tried various changes to the properties too, playing around with fill_parent, wrap_content etc. I've also tried writing some code in the text view based on something I've read in stack overflow about layout_weights... a concept I'm struggling to grasp.
