I have been very lax in my blogging duties the past week or so. I was out of town for work which threw my schedule off , then I returned only to contract the flu. This has been the type of flue where you feel like you've been hit by a truck and really don't care if you OD on Nyquil. Blogging has been very low on my priority list.
I feel like a bit of a failure. Of all months to drop the ball on Multicultural Monday, how could I do so in February? February is Black History Month and I should have written a wonderful post detailing the ways my family is focusing on African American culture and achievement. I have not written such a post. We have not done anything special to acknowledge Black History Month. In fact, I can't even honestly tell you if I have even talked about it with the kids. Through my Nyquil haze I just can't remember.
Truthfully, part of me feels as a Multicultural African-American family, we should be celebrating black culture and achievement every day. This I do try to do consistently. So, do I need to do something more in February? Maybe yes, maybe no, I guess I just figure it can't hurt. Anytime the entire county is going to help me out by hosting events or museums are going to have special exhibits etc., I figure we ought to take advantage of that.
We will do something in honor of Black History Month this week and I will write about it for next Monday. In the meantime if you are looking for some ideas I did find this scholastic site with some interesting ideas on things to do this month.

Of course if you have already done something really interesting or extra special, please share it. I love hearing what other people do and I am not above copying other peoples good ideas.
