I was using an old commit of Three20 to preserve backward
compatibility to 2.2.1. I'm using it for a TTThumbsViewController-
based photo gallery.

I modeled Keith Lazuka's sample code to get it done, and everything
was fine & dandy.

Recently, I started getting a bunch of app rejections because of the
private API calls.

I updated my Three20 to a more current, "app-store safe" branch.
Obviously, this includes the new Model-View-Controller stuff and
numerous other changes.

So now my gallery is broken and I'm trying to understand the new
Three20 models and sample code. I did make a couple changes which got
the project building, but it's as if the galleries contain no photos.

It's taking me longer than I expected to get this figured out. I think
I'm pretty close, but not quite there.

If you're a Three20 sniper and you think you can help, I'm willing to
pay a bounty to get this fixed quickly. Email me.

Thank you!

Why not take a look at the changes in the Three20-P31 repository that
were made to remove those API calls, and apply those changes to your
old version? It's only a couple of commits, and the changes should be
pretty easy to apply. That's almost certainly a shorter road than
trying to update an entire existing app to the head.
