Colleagues,

As drawing deuterium from sea water will not ensure long-term survivability of the Daedalus, we need to utilize additional energy sources. Given our recent determination of the short list of feasible fuels, I believe we should design and build the following addition to the compact fusion power plant aboard the Daedalus:

O.M.N.I.V.O.R.E. - Operational Mega and Nanoscale Implosion Vault and Oxidation Reduction Engine [concept attached]

This one device should take care of all of our energy conversion needs, assuming we have a sufficient supply of:

* Oil (and other fossil fuels, like coal) for ease of transport
* Uranium (and other fissionables) for potency
* Tech Econ (any type) for ease of conversion and ease of transport
* Biomass (particularly from crops and agricultural waste) for availability (particularly from low TL sources)
* Esoteric energy for potency and abundance (found in Magick Econ, for example)

Any waste products produced by this process could be captured and reprocessed into other materials, thereby reducing our separate need for raw building resources.

Now, to prevent any unusual resonances associated with the fuel from affecting the operation or performance of the Daedalus, any specifically risky or dangerous fuels should be encased in a P.R.I.S.O.N. - Phase Rectifying Inductive Synthetic Oscillating Nodule. [concept attached - looks like a cross between a gemstone and a power transformer, but in 17 dimensions] This design will ameliorate any negative influences from sources of questionable nature, while enabling the standard hero response of 'destroy it because it's evil'. As items of significant esoteric power are a viable source of energy, we are literally one Hand of Vecna away from an Artifurnace.

This could also double as a slow execution chamber for Apophis. But, I digress.

Speaking of foreign policy, this technical solution is trivial compared to locating sufficient quantities of fuel before our 1 to 5 year operational window closes. However, that is a separate discussion.

Thoughts?

BTW, this is right up there with Dr. Sim categorizing Underhill
faeries by D&D class at a party.
