Our county team and I are discussing the best ways to administer the
STEP TILP paperwork so the youth gets the most out of it. I was
wondering how each of your programs do it? Thus far we have made it a
part of the intake process, but we have found that this is far too
much info and paperwork for the youth to process in one day. We are
considering creating a second step to the intake process in which the
ILP social worker and Case Managers meet with the youth a week or so
after the intake and go over the STEP TILP as a team...does anyone
else do it this way? Any tips or ideas are appreciated :)

We do it this way in Santa Clara County... The day of intake we go
over our program paperwork and if they are in one of our housing
facilities our lease, but after this is when we schedule a date to do
the STEP TILP. In Santa Clara County, there is a County Worker who
must be involved, so we schedule it with them. The only dilemma is
that we've had times where the youth misses the next appt for some
reason and we have to reschedule a few times, and the County won't pay
the invoice for the youth's bed until the STEP TILP is done. But,
overall it works well for us.
