I realize that not everyone is to this point yet, and I apologize for
posting something irrelevant to you, but it's what is on my mind &
maybe you'll remember some of these ideas or somehow be able to use
this in the future.
Toddlerhood is a time to learn, explore, create, and absorb... and I
want to allow for this in positive ways.
I want to start implementing more activities for my son during the
day. I would also love ideas for park playdates-- scavenger hunts,
planting a bean in a clear glass jar to watch it grow from home,
making peanut butter pinecones covered in bird seed as bird feeders
(is it not environmentally friendly to feed birds?), etc...
I found this blog very useful in general and wanted to share. Her
focus is a raising her child through a homeschool version of
montessori methods. I'm not strictly doing Montessori, but I don't
doubt that there is some awesome wisdom in using their simple but
inspiring activities...

My husband keeps telling me programs like Gymboree are "not in the
budget" as we're trying to buy our first home. I get creative and take
my son to library storytime and Barnes & Noble's free story time...
but so far, these programs haven't really held his attention or worked
with our schedule. Luckily a local friend just recommended our
community rec center- their programs are a bargain and centered around
"active" toddlers, not passive preschoolers who will sit for a story.
I encourage you to see what is available in your area if you are in a
similar lacking financially, needing to entertain & wanting to enrich
your child situation.
I am desperate for ideas, so please share all that you have!
This morning my son moved dried noodles from one bowl to another with
tongs. We did some finger painting, then we made "emoticon hearts" and
talked about different emotions.
