So George is 4 and a half months now, and he will start sitting up any
second now I'm sure. After a very disappointing trip to Toys-R-Us, I
need some ideas OR websites on cool toys that he might like. It's hard
for me to think like a baby, so if any of you could tell me about what
your babies like(d) from 5 to 10 months or so, I would love it! And
I'm staying away from electronic toys for the most part.

Thanks so much!!!!!

Yay! Glad you are not doing electronic toys. They are so annoying &
really aren't even good for development. Look for Montessori toys,
those are the best. Search for age appropriate toys for him. Blocks
are necessary for stacking & stacking cups are really great, too! The
first puzzles with the big knobs from Melissa & Doug. Basically go to
Once Upon a Child & garage sales & check craigslist b/c toys for these
ages barely get used, anyway.

Harrison's fav thing then & now is to be read to.

He loved balls around that age. Puppets, still does. Some sort of push
wagon thing is great. WE used the ikea one & a radio flyer one. The
ikea one was not as good- too light weight.

You mean a wagon for me to push him in, or for him to push?

George also loves to be read to, especially when I make funny sounds
with the book, and I will have to add a sock puppet to the equation!

All great suggestions as usual Heather, thanks.

Aiden has loved the toys from this place, which he could play with at Amaya Papaya in Casselberry.  He loved the measure up cups so much, I bought him a set at a discount at one of the shows.  http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/control/ecommerceMain?MARKET=US

Other than that, his favorite things to place with as a baby were empty oatmeal or supplement cans, measuring cups, big beads on a thick string, things that rattle, things he could bang on like a little drum, cardboard books, and lots of different textures for gumming...they even make books for that. :)

Good luck!

Rocking toys are also great for development, I forget when we got
ours... but it looked cute in the room!
