What is the latest driver for the Graphire 3 & 4 (CTE) tablets?
The Graphire 3 & 4 CTE tablets made from 2003-2007 are no longer supported by Wacom and will not work with a current tablet driver. Below are links to the latest drivers available for these tablets.

I retrieved my tablet from the junk pile, installed that driver, cleaned off my tablet while my system rebooted, plugged it in and away I went! In PaintShop Pro 2018, the setting is found at File > Preferences > General Program Preferences in the Miscellaneous section.

Thank you so very much. I checked the WACOM website and left with some despair. The 525-2a link above still works as of 6 December 2018. Installed the driver on my Win10 Pro laptop and the tablet, pen and mouse seem to work as expected.
Cheers,
Ted

Just installed the cons530-3_int.exe to drive a cte 640 on a fresh windows 10 machine. Works perfectly, But, if you tried to install any other versions from wacom site previously i had to take these steps first. unistall all wacom drivers, unplug Tablet, restart machine, install the cons530-3_int.exe driver, Then plug in my CTE 640

Having a working but outdated wacom is nice, and after that hassle with the driver, let me say 1000 thank you for bringing up this post, that helps reanimating the old 2007 wacoms and saves our money ?

I hope your description of putting it out on the verge was metaphorical. Please sell your old hardware on eBay instead. We Linux users can use it almost into perpetuity, with drivers that are maintained by a worldwide community. Doing so will keep it out of landfill, and give you some money toward a new one.

Ha, now it is 2023. Lost my teaching job and the school computer + acc. Retiring neighbor gave me Wacom Graphire CTE-440 and mouse, and shortly after that the poor man died (retirement seems to do that to some folks). pen seems missing. Any ideas where I might find a pen that works? Wacom says, of course, nothing like that is made or sold anymore. Any ideas where to get a pen that works?

I recently bought a pen tablet to replace an old Wacom Bamboo that wasn't working correctly anymore. I've read having multiple tablet drivers can cause issues so I tried removing the Wacom drivers but so far I've been unable to completely remove the stubborn thing no matter what I tried. I've already searched the net for possible solutions and tried the following :

The last thing I can think of right now that I didn't try is "format C:" but before nuking my system drive I'd like to be sure there's really no other option, especially since I'm not sure how I'll be able to reinstall windows after that given my copy is an update from 8 that was updated from pre-installed 7 so I don't have any license key anywhere.

I just ran into the same problem, and I was able to use the Driver Store Explorer you mentioned to remove the last vestiges of my old Wacom driver. When I first tried the deletion it displayed an error about the driver being in use, but I knew for a fact it wasn't so I used the "Force" option checkbox. Then the deletion worked fine. (Perhaps that's a new feature since you posted this question?)

After the installation open the application and click on Force Uninstall type the name of the program/registry or leftover application name to force uninstall it. It also helps you to remove registry of related application.

That's it. You should be good to go. As for your updated Windows 10 operating system from 8 (or 7) since, Microsoft stores your CPU data in their database you don't need the license key anymore. It'll automatically activate the Windows for you but just make sure your are using the same version of Windows(eg. Professional, Single Language etc)

I am with Wacom Technology Corporation, and we are interested in hearing from Rhino users on things we can do to make our products work better with Rhino. How many of you are currently using an Intuos or Cintiq with Rhino? What types of plug-ins or drivers can we develop to make using a Wacom product more compelling for a Rhino user?

I am a wacom user. (Intuos Pro) been using Wacom for 8 years. it comes very handy and useful + supportive in other 3dmodelling software but I must say, currently in Rhino, most of the time I have to switch to mouse, even though I would love to use Wacom to its full extend in Rhino.
I had given up my hope after my previous post about implementing Wacom in Rhino resulted with No response but thank god, finally Wacom has taken some interest in Rhino user community. (if you are really from Wacom Corp :P)

in order for Wacom to be fully useful in Rhino, there is no way but to have plug in (not just driver stuff) that really utilize Rhino core functionality. so here are some of my suggestion for useful plug in (Wacom) =

Control Point modification (with pressure sensitivity)
Countless time we have to fiddle with Gumball to move control points / Solid pts, to modify surfaces, while this technique have been on since the beginning of 3D modelling, . other 3d softwares have incorporated wacom to modify their surface. Take 3dsmax or Maya for example, I can push my control points (or vertices for Polys) along its normal direction with pressure sensitivity while I brush my cursor over the surface. I am not talking about dense poly model like Zbrush (although would be awesome to have in Rhino). just a standard low poly / subdivision or even NURBS control point modification CAN be made easier with Wacom.
there should be an option for : Smoothing (Average out Ctrp Point with its surroundings), Z+ (normal positive value), Z- (normal negative value), Slides (moving along Isoparm direction), etc
its time to evolve from flicking gumball with Soft selection and move to another level of Design-based modelling

Gesture Shortcut
with thousands of commands in rhino, there should be a gesture shortcut that can be activated by pressing one of the keyboard key, with already built in features such as =
Slide left = turn on Ctrl Points
Slide Right = turn on Solid Pts
Slide left + down (or any combination u want) = customizable command

Thanks for your input. I am new to Wacom, I just started on Feb. 1, and we have taken an interest in the Rhino community. From your email I address I can see that you are with McNeel, I have also spoken with Brian Gillespie and Brian James. I am glad to have started this dialogue, and will review your suggestions with our product management team to assess the possibilities.

This is a very interesting topic, and I`m very pleased to see an interest from Wacom in extending its user base into the Rhino community.
I am an Intuos Pro user and have always been wondering it there would be some type of integration at some stage. Generally speaking, CAD users are more reliant on mouse/keyboard functionality, as well as devices such as those from 3DConnexion.
A sketching ability as an overlay/layer as well as the ability to add notes etc to Rhino documents would be awesome.
Currently we either have to use a text box or export screenshots to photoshop/sketchbook pro and then sketch.

if you are able to do it right on the 3d application with wacom, you can modify your object on the viewport and see how your model moves on 3D space to fit to the sketch. (and make design judgement directly)
if u do it outside the 3d application, then u lose that ability. especially if you have a team of designers where a single sketch from the director will be passed down to 5 - 10 people.

Hi Runnie, all good points. I guess my work flow is a little different as I work alone, the only time I need to share a sketch is to explain something to a client or perhaps a toolmaker. In these cases a simple screen grab does the trick but I can certainly see advantages to working as you describe.

Seems like no support in ubuntu for wacom bamboo as evident from here How to get Bamboo Pad working on Ubuntu 14.04, and all the suggested workarounds only allowed the pointer movement. So can we install windows driver and use via wine?

One of the things that I used to paint textures as well as art is a very ancient Wacom GD-0912-R pad that I have been using ever since I had a 486. It's a great pad really! I paid about $400 back in the '90s for it. 17 inches of space to draw on making coloring super easy!

The Wacom GD series of pads was discontinued since the Windows XP era. You can still find these pads on eBay ranging anywhere from $30 to $50 depending on condition, and the peripherals for this pad seem to be a bit of a collector's item. Taking note that extra pens cost $75. (I kick myself to this day that I misplaced the box of extra plastic nubs for my pen). For those wondering, the only pens that are compatible with the GD series are GD and GS series pens/mice/airbrushes. None of the Bambo or Intuos series pens will work with the GD series.

When I initially upgraded to windows 7 I was stuck between a rock in a hard place. Almost having to set up ANOTHER PC just for the sake of drawing again in Photoshop. Thankfully my new PC still had classic DB9 Serial ports on the back so hooking it directly was not even an issue. The issue was the software and making it actually TALK to the operating system. Reading through some forums pointed me in the right direction as to how to go about it. Mostly about finding the WacomTablet_605-7 Driver, downloading it. and Installing it to my PC. Drivers for the GD Series can be selected by clicking "Intuos" for the model type and "Windows XP" to get this exact driver.

A kind word of warning. You should always go to the manufacturer's website to download the drivers first and foremost and you shouldn't be downloading things off of a share site unless you trust the individual that is offering the files. And always have a virus checker of some sort installed such as Avast. Or AVG. As sometimes not even the person offering the files may know if it is infected or not.

Despite what the Microsoft Forums say, turning on Compatibility mode and running the program did not work for me at all. While it installed the 'flicks' utility that comes with the Wacom driver it did NOT install the drivers needed to drive my Wacom GD series tablet. I am not one to throw away perfectly working tech! So here was my experience on how I got it working.
