THOT of the Week for March 9th, 2011 – Paradox of Being
Remember a few weeks back we had the THOT comparing the images of the brain cells and the universe? How similar they both were visually and how vast each was? Trillions of cells making up the body… countless stars and planets making up the universe?
Well, no matter how vast; We are each at the very CENTER of our universe. All of our thoughts and perceptions come from OUR point of view. We can imagine other’s thoughts or perceptions but we can not really ever experience them. With this understanding then it can be said, that each of us is the most important being to our own existence.
On the other hand, the universe encompasses everything. It is still expanding. In theory, there are more stars in space than there are drops of water in the all the oceans. There are planets that orbit around those stars and ours is only ONE of those infinite number of planets. Each of us is only ONE person living at ONE moment in time on our little planet.
With this understanding then it can be said, that each of us is virtually insignificant in the whole scheme of things. How does that old Kansas song go? “All we are is dust in the wind…”
What can we take from this? We don’t know. We offer to give our ‘THOT of the Week’, not necessarily the ‘Answer of the Week’. But it seems to make quite a paradox doesn’t it? Each of us, at the same time, is both; virtually insignificant and also the center of the universe. So make LIFE want you want. Enjoy it. Live Free. Do the Right Thing. Don’t worry about anybody who would try to stop you; it just so happens that they also happen to be virtually insignificant.
We will be closed Saturday (3/12) this week… (for continuing education)
Don’t take yourself too damn seriously. We’ll see you next time.
