THOT #150 – What Statistics Say (you don’t say…)
There is no such thing as absolute certainty in statistics. Yet everyone wants to live in a world of certainty. Drugs are uncertain- they help some and they kill others; surgery is the same- it helps some and kills others. People count on the statistics (the odds) to indicate if the drug or surgery will do more good than harm, which is OK if you are part of the good percentage, and bad if you are not. The tobacco industry says there is no certainty linking cigarettes to cancer. We would have to agree. But we also understand that your body certainly cannot work as well if you do choose to smoke. There is certainty in chiropractic-your body WILL work better with a good nerve supply and without vertebral subluxations. However, if we try to make any other claims for chiropractic, we then enter the field of statistics and we better have the figures to back up those claims. Every person is different so everybody receives different perceived benefit. Bottom line: there is only ONE way to understand what chiropractic can do for YOU—that is simply to GET ADJUSTED! Actions (and results) speak louder than words… take action-->get results.
