THOT of the Week for 2.16.11 –

Chiropractic, Religion, and the Meaning of LIFE

Is Chiropractic a religion?  Well, first we must understand that the acceptance of any idea requires either understanding or faith.  Chiropractic is not based on faith.  It is a philosophy, and therefore its proof must be based on understanding.  But even proof itself can only exist in its own acceptance.  For example, it is possible to deduce from seeing that the sky is dark, the ground is wet, there are puddles forming in the street, and drops of water are falling to earth, that it is raining.  But to actually prove it is raining to someone who refuses to look outside would be impossible.  This is true of any proof… in order to constitute proof, both the argument and evidence presented must first be accepted.  Since acceptance is an individual act by an individual mind, this means that one can only prove something to oneself; no-one can really ever prove anything to another.  However, a person can be shown logic, and if the logic makes sense to that person, he will in effect have proven something to himself.  Again, chiropractic is based upon universal laws that cannot be bent or broken.  It works because the application of these laws will produce consistent results every time they are applied. The expression of LIFE and our connection to a greater intelligence is the basis of Chiropractic Philosophy.  The Chiropractic Meaning of LIFE is to express that intelligence through matter.

Religion can be wonderful, but it also limited.  Religion is based on faith and its history is in the accumulated knowledge of human perception and interpretation of events.  Its study and practice is theoretically for us to try and help both one another and ourselves.  Religion has been a lasting pursuit of mankind, probably since the beginning.  But trying to figure out the universe and the meaning of LIFE is a big job.  Many great leaders have shared some of their viewpoints and ideas.  Entire books have been written.  But no matter how wise the thoughts, rules, and traditions that still isn't enough: if all the knowledge of all the people to ever exist was put into one person, that one person still wouldn't know relatively anything about creating LIFE, the infinite universe, or the existence of higher intelligence.  It is simply beyond our physical limitation of matter.  In short, that which is created (in this case: us) could never have the same intelligence of that which created it (us.)  Religion is here to be a guide.  It is a source of spiritual history and perhaps a way to speak with or listen to the voice inside.  It is a common idea which helps millions through LIFE.  Both great accomplishments and horrible events have taken place because of religious beliefs.  One recurring predicament is that our leaders can’t know all the answers and sometimes they forget, or perhaps refuse, to say "Sorry, I don’t know…” This results in blind faith, and blind faith in this day and age simply isn't good enough.

Our world can never be stable if we try to rely solely on religion for the meaning of LIFE.  Because the answers to your LIFE are already inside of YOU.  Furthermore, they apply ONLY to YOU.  But when your body is in a state of dis-harmony and/or is polluted by toxic materials, memories, or beliefs, you become disconnected from the infinite voice inside of you.  But when that disconnection is restored or when that interference is removed, many (if not all) of your problems (or perceived problems) simply cease to exist.  Your experience and ability to LIVE will increase, perhaps beyond your current levels of logic, expectation, and perception.  That would be a wonderful thing for all of us, don't you think?   This is part of the PHILOSOPHY of Chiropractic: to be able to express LIFE as YOU and only YOU can.   How can you get any more meaningful than that?

Heavy Stuff.  Not easy to put into thoughts or words probably not east to read either but when the THOT comes, we have to share it.

Have a great week.  Well see you soon,

-Todd and Kelly
