what is the goal of humanity? is it in our overall best interest to protect the individual or the species? of the millions, perhaps billions, of species that live on our planet there is only one of them that is no longer privilege to the blessings and benefits of natural selection.
all other forms of LIFE on the planet continue to adapt themselves to whichever form most advantageously suits their survival. the strongest and most able of each species are the ones that pass on their genes for the benefit of the future generations. we as human beings have manipulated our environment to the extent that it is no longer the strongest, smartest, or most able individuals of our species which survive and thrive.
on the contrary, humans are now moving in the opposite direction. it is almost as if we are too 'smart' (or perhaps too vain/self-important) for our own good. even with our best intentions for the here-and-now we aren’t thinking forward or naturally. this THOT isn’t aimed at or meant to put blame on any person or group of people or any particular ‘advancement’ or ‘technology’… it is simply to put out the idea out there that although we are undoubtedly the most clever creatures we know of, we can not out smart the intelligence of the universe or the wisdom of the ages.
LIFE on EARTH [our (mostly) ‘closed-system’ planet] depends upon a fine balance to continue to exist as we know it. when any one thing is ‘out-of-balance’ it creates a shift of forces and creates stresses on all the other parts of the system. how much internal stress can a closed-system take before it explodes, implodes, or collapses [maybe even subluxates]?
We don’t know the answer to any of that but lets take one example to an extreme extreme: what if science were to discover a way for us each to live to be 1000 years old. where would we all live? what would we all eat?
something to THINK on… we’ll see you soon.
