Remember 'Norm Peterson' the character from the T.V. sit-com Cheers? Norm
was well liked guy and was always good for a laugh. Some of his best
one-liners can be found by clicking here:

This week, we question 'The Norm' (meaning what is typically accepted) of
medicine...

The NORM says that 'medical science' is productive and more medicine is good
for people. BUT...
Despite spending more money per person than any other nation in the world on
health matters, we (the USA) have more illness and disease per capita than
any other industrialized country. Dr. Elliot Fisher at Dartmouth University
has studied the relative costs of medical care and concludes, "If anything,
it looks like there is a substantially increased risk of death if a person
is cared for in high-cost system." His findings mirror earlier studies
showing that unrestricted access to medical testing and therapies results in
higher death rates. The entire article is available by clicking here:

The NORM says that medicine keeps people healthy and saves lives. BUT...
Did you know medicine is actually one of the most common causes of death in
our country? It is right up there with cancer and heart-disease. Imagine
three jumbo jets, each filled to capacity, all crashing at the same time...
pretty tragic huh? Now, imagine that happening every day for 365 straight
days... that's roughly the same number of people are killed by medicine each
year.

Remember Cliff Clavin? He was Norm's right-hand man at Cheers. He was
known for his ability to rattle off a meaningless statistics at a moments
notice. Some of Mr. Clavin's words of wisdom can be found here:
http://welton1.tripod.com/Clavin_Quotes.html
Now Normally Cliff didn't make a whole lot of sense, but in the interest
keeping things real and relevant, here is a completely valid CLIFF NOTE of
the week:
'People that have been under long-term Chiropractic care are found to have
immune systems that are 200% stronger than people who are not under
chiropractic care and immune systems that are 400% stronger than those of
cancer patients.'
-Ronald Pero, PhD., Chief of Cancer Prevention, N.Y.U. Research Department

It all boils down (again) to getting at the truth. Because the more
informed one is on any topic, the better decisions one can make on that
topic. Whatever you decide to do with this week's THOT, these statistics,
or the rest your LIFE is completely up to you. After all, that's what
freedom is all about: YOU being responsible for YOU.

Until next time, live innately... and CHEERS!
