Whew!  Its been a Doosey of a week!

Jacien’s LPHS graduation ceremony is tomorrow night at 7pm  (that’s Wednesday 6/8/11)  Open Adjusting will end at 6:30 instead of 8pm.

(Nice work Jace!)

Kelly compleately Rocked out her Art show in Mt. Clemons.  Thanks to everyone who pitched-in to help haul that serious stone!  Show me a beautiful, passionate, fun-loving, wife who loves her craft and I’ll show you a happy man...

Anybody got a mirror?

I’m writing this THOT as ‘I’ and not ‘we’… a little different, but for its reasons.  I stepped on something over the weekend.  It hurt a lot but I figured as long as I kept weight off it I’d be fine.  I limp/hopped for a couple of days.  Yesterday morning it was obvious infection had developed and by last night after Open Adjusting it was obvious the infection was spreading quickly.  I haven’t been to a hospital in over 20 years.  Well, I’ve visited folks there… but you know what I mean.  I always tell people, ‘stay away from the hospital unless it is a matter of immediate first aid.’  Innate will always provide, but she works at her own pace.   While I continually and painfully remind myself of principle #6: 'there is no process which does not require time', my foot infection had turned into a lower-leg infection.

At this point my educated mind says to my mouth to say to Kelly—‘this is spreading kind of fast’ and she says back-‘I was thinking the same thing’ and I says back-‘I need some anti-biotics’ and she says back-‘do you know anybody?’ (it was 9:30 in the evening) I says back-‘No, not at this time anyways…I’m thinking about going to the ER’ and she says back-‘well, I know you’ve THOT it thru’ and I says-‘yeah… hug me’ she hugged me then checked my neck and adjusted it…<fast forward> the ER experience was horrible.  I will continue to tell people to stay away if they can.  I was discharged at 3am with a prescription for anti-biotics that I filled at an all-nite pharmacy.  I ate 2 pills and fell asleep.  Woke up 3 hours later to get the kids off to school (did I mention Jaicen was graduating? Nice work Jace!) already, the signs of primary infection had gone down and no more signs of it spreading.  My leg is going to be OK.  My belly has been upset all day… the good bacteria in my gut must be calling me a traitor as they die off by the millions.

Did I do the right thing?  I dunno.  There is a time and a place for first-aid and each situation has its own details and variables.  If crack your head open and cant get it to stop bleeding you’d probably be best off with some stitches.  If you’re found passed out dehydrated in the desert you’d probably be best off with some IV fluids.  If you snap your shin playing soccer you may want to set and cast that bone.  I used my educated brain to weigh the pros and cons and options and then decided to drive to the hospital and get some DRUGS!  Yes, there I said it, I am a DRUG USER!  I plan to finish my 6 day ‘script (to ensure maximum efficacy) then start a new streak of consecutive days not spent in a doctor’s office or a hospital (and I use the word ‘doctor’ in the nicest possible way!)

When people ask me for medical advice I always answer the same way, ‘I am a chiropractor, I don’t give medical advice.’  Then I encourage them to gather their facts, weigh pros and cons, LISTEN to that little voice inside, and then DECIDE for THEMSELVES.   (this applies to vaccine questions, c-section and inducement questions, drug-therapy questions, surgeries... ANY medical questions.)

Peace Folks, We’ll see you soon.  -Todd
