Do you enjoy reading research papers? Most people would say ‘no’ to that question… Boring stuff- Usually long and wordy with lots of technical terms and for the most part not a lot of excitement. But if it is the right article at the right time and you can see how it may impact you or someone you LOVE it can be pretty good reading…
For example, this is a study about a little girl who got ear infection after ear infection (otitis media= ear infection) and could get no relief from numerous anti-biotics or even after 6 months wearing ear tubes (you know they have to surgically place those in your ears by slitting the ear drums right?) Anyways, she went through all that and when it got so frustrating that nothing would work her parents took her to be adjusted…
You can read the abstract for the article below and if you are interested click this link for 25 others: http://icpa4kids.org/Chiropractic-Research/Ear-Infection-Otitis-Media/ The link takes you to the ICPA, (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association) and there are lots more research articles on other ‘troubles’ kids have and how these troubles have been addressed (and/or solved) with chiropractic care. If you are reading this hard-copy and can’t click on the link so sorry, but just ask and we’ll get you some good info on the ‘problem of your choice.’ It is also good page to bookmark and reference later.
Anyways, folks sometimes are surprised that we adjust little ones- sometimes they ask, “Gee, isn’t she/he too young to be adjusted?” We (almost) always say: ‘If someone has a nerve system that is controlling and coordinating their body (nomatter how young or old) aren’t they better off when that nerve system is functioning at its highest potential?’

Author's abstract: This is the case of a 23-month-old female with chronic otitis media who had orthodox medical treatment with no relief of symptoms. She had sustained improvement with chiropractic care. A mechanism for the etiology of chronic otitis media is suggested. From the paper: "Conventional medical treatment had been administered, including numerous regimens of broad-spectrum antibiotics. Six months before having been seen, bilateral myringotomies with tympanostomy tube placement were performed. The tubes were still in place on presentation." Three days after initial adjustment (at C-1) the patient's ear drainage and pain were notice-ably reduced. Child was soon free of all symptoms. Phillips, NJ.
