As you may have noticed, we were unable to open the pool on memorial day weekend this year. There are couple of reasons for this delay.
First and foremost, safety of everyone is our priority. We are trying to follow the guidelines for safe opening of public pools for Georgia Department of Public Health available
here. Though ours is not open to public, subdivision pools are specifically mentioned as being included in these guidelines. Attended pools (such as Wills Park) are opening with increased cleaning and occupancy restrictions, Since our pool does not have a life guard or attendant, we are trying to figure out how to comply with the cleaning and occupancy control guidelines. We are hoping for clarity in the next week or two. Note that this is not same as "swim at your own risk" and more of "potentially putting others at risk". We need to consider the potential liability this can create.
The other reason it is delayed is due to the repairs required for bathrooms. The utility closet out side the pool house (behind bathrooms) had mold and walls were demolished to clean it out in winter. We were trying to get bids to fix the walls/closet as well as several other repairs to the pool house. Our management company was slow to respond in the winter, and once COVID related shutdowns began, things became hectic. We have one bid that is very expensive and are trying to get at least one or two more. Repairs are expected to take 2-3 weeks. Once repairs are complete, we need to complete inspections and get a permit.
We understand that it is disappointing to not having the pool open. I will keep you posted on the progress on both issues.
