Hi folks,

I had a great race with Dave most of the time (many thanks again for
sharing your setup freely, Dave). It looks like I was a bit faster
than him, but as they say "catching someone is one thing, overtaking
another." The first time I fscked up was going into the corkscrew
under braking, I was following Dave quite closely, pulled out to the
left to make my move, the brakes, they did nothing ;-)

Sorry for the mistake, I'm happy I did not end anyone's race with that
bonehead maneuvre (maybe loss of front d/f was to blame? dunno).

Both Dave and Simon got by unscathed, I caught up with Si after some
laps when I saw him crash out exiting turn four, losing his rear wing
in the process. I chased Dave again for a bit and sure enough managed
catch him again, but then too many unforced errors followed: In the
final turn (it felt like someone had covered the road with soap there
;-), in the fast left hander under the bridge and so on.

Still, great race at a great circuit with some great cars. Good to see
both Bo (again) and Simon Goodwin who I haven't raced with for at
least five years, maybe more! Except for the cars and the low
attendance, this felt like a Screamers Revival meeting ;-)

All the best,

Uwe

PS: CC: to the Screamers list, maybe we can grab somebody's attention ;-)

I had a clean run in the first race, without making any noticeable
mistakes, but in the 2nd race I increased my tire pressures and that
made the handling worse, so after half way point I lost the car in
that fast left before Corkscrew and damaged the right side of the car.
It became impossible to turn so I ended up crashing into another wall
and ripped a wheel off. Still got 3rd though. :P

Hopefully more of our members will show up for the last two races, so
everyone gets to battle someone throughout the field.

not much to say... 6 racers, i started and finished 5th.
started so only cause Simon messed up his qual and got DQ'd :(

i hadn't practiced, as i really didn't think i'd be racing.. but the
track selection(s) have been interesting, and so i thought if i can be
respectable i'd give it a go.

my first laps were good, as far as remembering the track from GPL. but
being in rF with downforce it was a lot quicker. still my times were
only 1.22... 1.20... ish.
then Dave showed up and before he turned a lap asked if i needed a
setup! what a gentleman~
so i plugged that in and began 1.19...18...16.... and finally 15-
then Hristo showed up and did a 1.06 so my joy of improvement soundly
smacked me in the face with reality :P

usually i'm 3 to 5 seconds off pole time, so i knew there would be a
lonely race, and be a long way back. but thats ok, what did i expect ?
to be a prodigy? no more like prodigal ... returning home after
everyone else was already there :)

the race,, wasn't one for me.. but i finished. i kept it on the road
(mostly, i think two spins when i pressed too hard) without damaging
anything!
and only down 4 laps to Hristo...

enjoyed it and the company. so nice to see Uwe's name on the grid again
(and each time he passed me)
too bad the grid wasn't a little bigger-

have you guys considered 1 race? between the 2 time slots? maybe more
would come to the single event?
just a thought~

thanks for letting me join you, despite the slow times

Heh, I saw that coming at the corkscrew, and back off and waited for you to
go by completely, so I wouldn't turn left into you. The fact is, I could
have gone faster, (I did many 1:10s in practice with the race setup), and
did pick it up each time you caught me, but catching Dom or Hristo wasn't
possible, so I was lazily doing safe 1:12s until you caught up, each time,
Uwe. Then I started to push a bit to stay ahead, (into the 1:11s), and each
time I decided I better push harder, because you were getting too close, you
spun out, heh. :-| Oh well, we at least had some laps dueling there for a
bit. Sorry you ended up crashing once too many times. The setup was solid
but you had to respect the throttle and wheelspin especially if the wheel
was turned any. Incidentally, this MOD does NOT have an ignition cut built
in. You need to either lift to shift (as I always do), and blip on
downshifts or use auto blip and auto lift features. I could hear by the
sound of people's shifts that many were not lifting to shift. This could
cause you grief in the long run as it overheats the rear tires and
eventually results in a spin. Definitely need to squeeze the gas down off
corners while the wheel is still turned. Crossover technique between gas and
steering much needed with this car.

Yeah, Bo, I'd like to see the majority of our current members show up,
if nothing else. That would give a grid of 10+ which is not bad. But
the thing is, it's Summer (for most of us) and the series are for fun,
so there are no obligations. And the races are short for the same
reason, as are the number of starts to give an option to people in
different time zones. So nobody should expect highly competitive full
grids at this time, but rather do some practice and turn up to battle
with 2-3 people that run the same pace.

well that was fun, though i was woefully off the pace
only had about an hour's practice...
man i am SO not ready for a modern indycar haha
it was like learning to drive all over again!

attended both races, but crashed out of both of them
(overcooking the throttle on exits)
still, it was just a test really to see if i could connect etc
everything worked perfectly and i'm quite impressed with rFactor

i'm really looking forward to the screamers season in the fall
i hope they choose a more manageble series
and i hope it happens... no new leader yet i understand

anyway, thanks hristo, hoover, et al
i'll try to make it to another race 8^)

cheers,
simon
