Hi Aivar,

Note: Using Thonny 3.3.13

I'm having a problem flashing the D1 Mini Pro, as I had with the NodeMCU Mini. I was able to solve the NodeMCU Mini by using a powered hub for the flashing, but so far that has not had any affect on flashing the D1Mini Pro. The D1 Mini Pro appears to employ a CH9102 for the USB-UART bridge, but apparently Windows had the driver.

Have you had any similar issues reported, and perhaps solutions.

Tried Thonny version 4.0, but got the same results flashing the D1 Mini Pro. Was surprised that version 4.0 didn't install over version 3.3.13; it left it installed.

What was the exact problem with flashing?
Regarding 4.0 not replacing 3.3 -- how did you install Thonny 4.0 and 3.3? On which platform?

The flashed program was corrupted. However, I believe I know the reason, the CH9102F USB-UART bridge. It was advertised by the seller to be the standard CP2104, but in actuality the chip was a CH9102F that, after research, was found to be considerably slower than the CP2104. I returned the boards and found D1 Mini Pro's with the CP2104 and they flashed without issue.
The only other difference the D1 mini's that were returned had 16MB's vs 4MB for the replacements; not sure if Thonny has issues with the larger memory.

Regarding 4.0 vs 3.3.13 they are installed on a Windows 10 platform.

When you select "Tools => Open Thonny program folder", which folder to you get? Is this the folder you installed Thonny to?

For both installations I took the default.
Thonny 3.3.13 is in C:\Program Files\Thonny
Thonny 4.0 is in C:\Users\Mick\AppData\Local\Programs\Thonny
They were both installed from a "Standard" user, not from an "Administrator" user.

This is surprising. According to my experiments, Thonny's Windows installer is proposing to install to the same location that the previous version was installed to.

I'll keep an eye on this the next time I'll test the Windows installer.
