Unable to connect to ESP8266-01

Hi,

I've been using Thonny for a long time and I never came across with this problem so, I'm asking for some help. The device works with Arduino and loads the latest OS (esp8266-1m-20220618-v1.19.1) after an erase without any issues, therefore, the connections are solid.

However, I cannot communicate with it. Meaning the console doesn't bring up the OS' version at power-up so, I've no control over it. No problems with other devices (ESP32, ESP8266, Pico, etc.)

I've had this problem from  time to time. First, there are two versions of v1.191; 583K & 626K make sure you've installed 583K. Sometimes REPL won't function and boot.py won't be loaded with the larger version.

Second, with some programming hardware it's necessary to use a powered hub, rather than direct from the PC.

I'm running the ESP module off a breadboard with an external 3V3 PS. My bin file is 578kb big and it's the latest release at https://micropython.org/download/esp8266-1m/. I also tried some nightly builts with no avail. Thank you.

Fixed by selecting "Dual Output (dout)" while burning the firmware. Does anyone know why is that?
