New to the area and i am trying to make THONNY see the esp8266 nodemcu. The installation is on windows 7 64bit machine. Thonny has been installed, as well the thonny-esp from plugins. unfortunatelly i cannot find where is the option to connect to a particular COM port (running only one esp8266). So i could connect to it.

Hi!

Open "Tools => Options => Back-end", select ESP8266 back-end and then you'll see the combobox with all available COM ports.

best regards,
Aivar

Looks like you are using Thonny 2.1. Only MicroPython plug-in that works in 2.1 is BBC micro:bit.

ESP plug-in only works with Thonny 3.0, which is currently in beta (https://thonny.org/blog/2018/08/11/version_3_0_beta.html )

Aivar
