School use on PC's and Raspberry Pi's

Thanks for developing this.

We are just beginning the process of moving over to thonny from IDLE and pyscripter as we feel it has a much better balance of tools for our learners.

It would be great to be able to install it on our raspberry pi's however we have not been able to download the tar files following the links for installing on linux so haven't been able to find out if it is possible.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Hi Rick!

At the moment you can install Thonny to Raspberry with "sudo pip3 install thonny". This won't create any desktop/menu shortcuts, though. You can start Thonny by executing "thonny" in terminal.

(Once I've simplified Thonny's dependencies, I'll investigate the options for publishing it as a Debian package)
