I often use a combination of plain old Sketchup renders and Enscape for the work that I do. I size the Sketchup window to the size/ratio of my intended render. It would be nice if, when I do my Enscape render, there were the option to have the Enscape render window open at the same size as the Sketchup window. I realize that I can set up custom sizes for capture, but if the window is a different size from the Sketchup window, the renders often do not line up.
Also, a way to dock the various Enscape windows would be helpful. Right now, I end up with several windows - the material editor, the Enscape settings, etc - all floating around on my screens. Having them docked, and automatically minimized when not in use, would reduce quite a bit of screen clutter.
Do you mean integrated inside the Enscape window (like the presentation mode or the settings in the standalone), docked inside the Enscape window, or docked inside SketchUp? Or have materials/lights/settings all in one window? Not sure every solution is technically possible, just want to understand your idea.
I usually do a combination of renders in Photoshop - I have a custom line style in Sketchup, and I like to combine that with the render from Enscape. Usually I do the Sketchup render, and then resize the Enscape window to match the dimension of the Sketchup render. I then set the custom resolution to match, just to be sure. It would just save me those last couple of steps if the Enscape window opened at the same size as the Sketchup window.

Sorry, I was pretty vague about that, wasn't I? Honestly, I'm not sure what to do with all the windows. They could be drop-downs from the Enscape toolbar, they could be docked to the Enscape window, it doesn't really matter. I just find I end with a lot of windows that I have to move all over my desktop, and they kind of turn into clutter. There may not be a good solution, and it's really not that big of a deal. I just try to keep my desktop tidy.
just a simple question, I bought a yearly license subscription for sketch up, and I am using it on my personal Mac book pro, can i use the same license on the windows Sketch up? or shall i buy a separate subscription for windows versions?
Group. While you are in the wall group, use the push/pull tool to extrude the window through the wall. Now you should have a hole on one side of the wall and a rectangle for your window on the other side.
If you want to add trim with a unique profile, draw the profile shape so that it lines up with the edge of the window cutout. Select the follow me tool and click on your profile. Hold the left mouse button and drag the shape along the edge of the window cutout.
Add Slope. One important thing to consider is that the front edge of the window sill should be sloped slightly downward to allow rain to run off. Select the bottom trim work and use the move tool to slope the window sill down slightly. You may have to move the sill up so that it lines up with the window again.
You can always add more detailed trim work or create larger windows, but these steps should give you the basics to creating windows in Sketchup! What other objects do you need help modeling in Sketchup? Let us know in the comments! Be sure to check out our full list of tutorials too!
I modelled the first floor, with the windows. Then I copy-paste the entire floor to generate the other floors; now every floor has the windows. Then I close and re-open sketch-up, and I open the openstudio model in skethup. I can see the external walls of the whole building, I can see the windows of the first floor, but can't see the windows of the other floors. Why do they disappear if I close and re-open sketchup?
2) The windows were not copied into an OpenStudio Space. For walls and windows to save in the OpenStudio file they must be within a space. I would double check that the windows and walls are each in a space. Either add your surfaces and windows to spaces or double click into the space (black "+" sign) to check if windows appear/disappear.
I have seen walls and windows disappear after closing and reopening a file because of the above reasons or an error that causes the program to delete them automatically because they're not valid. Try managing your spaces and see if you can correct this problem.
