19-09-2010 அன்று காலையில் அருங்காட்சியகம் சென்றேன்,அங்கே நடைபெற்ற ஒரு புத்தக வெளியீட்டு விழாவில் ஐயா தமிழ்த்தேனி அவர்களைச் சந்திக்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது,ஐயா தேவ் அவர்களும்ஐயா ஒரிசா பாலு அவர்களும் வந்து சேர்ந்தவுடன், ஆழ்வார்களைத் தேடிச் சென்றோம்,ஒரிசா பாலு அவர்கள் மிகவும் விரைவாக ஓடிச் சென்று தொண்டரடிப் பொடியாழ்வாரைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ந்து குதூகளித்தார்,அவரைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்ற ஐயா தேவ் அவர்களும் நானும் சென்று ஆழ்வாரை வணங்கி மகிழ்ந்தோம்,திருப்பூவணத்திற்கு விரைவில் எழுந்தருள வேண்டுமென ஆழ்வாரிடம் விண்ணப்பம் செய்து கொண்டேன்,ஐயா ஒரிசா பாலு அவர்கள், விசாரித்த வகையில் திருப்பூவணம் திருமழிசை ஆழ்வார் வைப்பறையில் இருப்பதாக அறியமுடிந்தது,நாங்கள் மூவரும் சென்று அருங்காட்சியகப் புத்தகங்களை ஆராய்ந்தோம்,ஒரிசாபாலு அவர்கள் மிகவும் விரைவாகச் செயல்பட்டார்,ஒரு புத்தகத்தை வாங்கி விரைவாக அதன் பக்கங்களைப் பிரித்துக் காண்பித்தார்,அளவில்லாத ஆனந்தம் அடைந்தோம்,அதில் திருப்பூவணம் ஆழ்வார்களைப் பற்றிய தகவல்கள் இருந்தன,திருப்பூவணத் பெருமாள், சாதாரண பெருமாள் அல்ல, பெத்தபெருமாள் ஆவார்,அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் ஒன்றல்ல, இரண்டல்ல எட்டு திருமேனிகள் உள்ளன எனக் காட்டிக் கொடுத்துள்ளார்,The extracts of the

CHARACTER AND GEOGRAPHICAL DISTRIBUTION OF TREASURE TROVE FINDS FROM SOUTH INDIA.
All available details of treasure trove finds in the Madras Presidency fro each year are now carefully recorded in appendices to the Annual Administration Report of the government Museum; but unfortunately only finds of coins were recorded in detail prior to the report fro 1927-28. From then onwards, however, all images, etc., have been recorded as well.
In the following list will be found details of all South Indian treasure trove finds of Hindu metal images, so fare as these can be traced in the registers of the Madras Museum. The reference numbers quoted are those used in the following catalogue. Images to which no number is added are not in the Museum collection. ...... ...... .. Articles other than images are not included. Concerning them reference may be made to the Madras Museum Annual Reports in the case of finds noted as having been recorded in them.

9. VISHNU WITH SRI DEVI AND BHU DEVI. (Gopinatha Rao I, pl. xxii; Hooper, Pl. Opposite p.75) Height of Vishnu 51.5, 66 cm. of devis 43.55 cm. Conch dextral. Treasure trove, Tiruppuvanam, Sivaganga Taluk, Madura District, 1910
All three images have girdles somewhat resembling that of Vishnu Nos. 3 and 4. In other respects they resemble rather No.8, but are cruder and of heavier from than this or indeed any of the preceding. Each has only two rather plain necklaces. There is a central flame on the front side only of both conch and discus, and the basal flame of the conch turns inwards. There is no lotus bud in Vishnu's lower right hand. Sri Devi has a sacred thread like that of Bhu Devi. though somewhat differently decorated the headdresses of the two devis are alike in form, each having four deeply constricted bands. The end of Sri Devi's cloth projects simply above the girdle behind, but that of Bhu Devi, like that of Vishnu, is spread out in the form of a fan.

The draperies and ornaments are none of them highly elaborated. The two necklaces are very broad in front, especially the lower and larger one. The former is hidden by the hair behind. The latter is slender behind, where it has two additional beaded strings below it. The pedestal is rectangular, with lotus base.

I. VARADARAJA WITH SRI DEVI AND BHU DEVI. Height of Varadaraja 73, 114 cm.; of devis 58, 95 cm. Conch Dextral. The lotus pedestals of all three images rest on a massive stand, which also supports the encircling prabha. Treasure trove, Tiruppuvanam, Sivanganga Taluk, Madura District, 1905.
The ornamentation of this set of images is very elaborate. The basal flame of both conch and discus is divided into two parts, which bend in opposite directions, so that each appears to have five marginal flames. The latter but not the former has a central from in front, but not behind. Sri Devi wears solid todus in her ears in place of the usual pierced patra-kundalas. Varadaraja wears three and the devis, in addition to the tail, two necklaces, of which the lowest is very broad and highly ornamented and supports a row of mango-shaped pendants. Varadaraja's mole is not of the usual simple triangular shape. It probably had the form of Lakshmi somewhat as in Vishnu No.10, but backed by aprabha. All details of the figure have, however, now disappeared. All three figures wear anklets, and each has its own type of drapery, differing somewhat from that of the others.

Another variant of the same style. The narrow lower band of the girdle is widely separated from the broad upper one, but passes straight across from one leg to the other without forming a pendulous loop. A sacred thread is present, not the more elaborate thread usually found in images of Sri Devi.

Patra-kundalas in ears. The string round the stomach is tied on the lieft side in front, and the girdle, which is reduced to a string of? bells, on the right side in front.

The eyes are fully open and the hair is fastened in a knot on the top of the head. But Tirumalisai is the only alvar that can be represented as standing with his hands in the anjali pose.

The basket hangs on the left arm. A Vadagalai namam is present. The name Tondaradiappodi Alvar is inscribed in the pedestal in modern Tamil characters.

பெருமாள் திருமேனி திருப்பதில் செய்யப்பெற்ற தாம். "ரங்கா" என்ற ஒரு மந்திரத்தை உச்சரித்து, ஒரு உளி கொண்டு, ஒரு சிற்பியால் வடிக்கப்பட்ட திருவுருவம் என்றார். பரண்மேல் கிடந்த பழைமையான ஆவணம் நேற்றுத்தான் படிக்கக் கிடைத்ததாம்.
T.இராகவன் ஐயங்கார் இன்று என்னிடம் கூறிய செய்தி இது.
ஐயா கண்ணன் அவர்களுக்கு வணக்கம்,ஆழ்வார்கள் ஒருவர் அல்ல!இருவர் அல்ல!!மூவர் உள்ளனர்,இம்மூவரும்அருங்காட்சியத்தில் இல்லை,அவர்கள் தமிழ்மரபு அறக்கட்டளையில் உறுப்பினர்களாக உள்ளனர்,ஒருவர் பெயர் தேவ்மற்றொருவர் பெயர் சந்திராமற்றொருவர் ஒரிசாபாலுஆம் இவர்கள் மூவரும்தான் திருப்பூவணம் ஆழ்வார்கள், ஏதோ பெயரும் வடிவமும்தான் காலத்திற்கு ஏற்றபடி மாறியுள்ளன,திருப்பூவணம் ஆழ்வார்களை ஆலயம் சேர்ப்பது தொடர்பாக 18-09-2010 அன்று நடைபெற்ற தமிழ் மரபு அறக்கட்டளைக் கூட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்ட அன்பர்கள் பலருடனும் கலந்து பேசும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது,ஐயா தேவ் அவர்களும்,ஐயா சந்திரா அவர்களும் புகைப்படங்கள் அனைத்தையும் பார்த்தனர்,சந்திரா அவர்கள் ஆழ்வார்களை ஆலயம் சேர்க்கவேண்டி அலுவலக வேலைநாட்களில் ஒருநாள் வந்துபோகும்படி கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்,அவர் விரைவில் திருப்பூவணம் வருவதாகவும் கூறியுள்ளார்கள்,அன்று மாலை ஐயா ஒரிசாபாலு அவர்களை அவரது குடும்பத்தினருடன் சந்தித்து மகிழ்ந்தேன், அவரது விருப்பப்படி மறுநாள் காலையில் அருங்காட்சியகம் சென்று வருதென்று முடிவுசெய்தோம்,இதனை sms செய்தவுடன், ஐயாதேவ் அவர்களும் இணைந்து கொள்வதாகக் கூறினார்கள்,
தங்களது தலைமையில், இவர்களைத் திருப்பூவணம் ஆலயத்தில் சேர்ப்போம்,
திருப்பூவணத்தார் செய்த புண்ணியம், தேவ், சந்திரா, பாலு இவர்களால் பெரும்பேறு பெற்றேன்,

அவ்வாறு நடைபெற்றிருந்தால், "..கடைசி வரிசைகளில் நின்ற பக்தர்களில் ஒருவர்.... "ரங்கா" எனக் கூவி கடவுளை வணங்கினார், அதன் காரணமாகப் பெருமாளுக்கு 'ரங்கன்' என்ற திருநாமம் வழங்கலாயிற்று" என்று எழுதி வைத்திருப்பர் - என்பது கற்பனை வாதம் :)

சிவகங்கை மாவடடம் திருப்புவனம் அருகே மடப்புரம் கோயில் முன்பு உள்ள சாலையை மறு சீரமைக்கும் போது இராஜராஜ சோழன் கால கல்வெட்டு கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டு படியெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
கடந்த சில நாட்களுக்கு முன்பு மடப்புரம் கோயிலில் வழிபட வரும பக்தர்களின் பாதுகாப்பு கருதி தற்போது உள்ள தார்ச்சாலையை அகற்றி விட்டு ஆழப்புழைக் கல் பதித்து இருபுறமும் நடைமேடை அமைக்க பணிகள் துவங்கப்பட்டது.
இதனையடுத்து முதல்கட்ட பணியாக சாலையை ஜேசிபி இயந்திரம் மூலம் பெயர்த்தெடுக்கும் போது இரண்டு பழங்கால எழுத்து பொறிக்கப்பட்ட கல்தூண் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டது.
இதனை கோயில் முன்னாள் அறங்காவலர் சங்கர் மற்றும் சண்முகவேல் கொடுத்த தகவலின்படி மதுரை பாண்டிய நாட்டு வரலாற்று ஆய்வு மையத்தின் தலைவர் ராஜேந்திரன்,செயலர் சொ.சாந்தலிங்கம்,உதவிச் செயலர் ஆத்மநாதன் ஆகியோர் படியெடுத்து கூறியதாவது:
திருப்புவனம் வைகை வடகரையில் அமைந்துள்ள ஸ்ரீபத்ரகாளியம்மன் கோயில் மிகவும் பிரசித்தி பெற்றது.இக்கோயிலில் தற்பலி கொடுக்கும் இரண்டு வீர சிற்பங்களும், கல்வெட்டுகளும் ஏற்கனவே ஆய்வாளர்களால் கண்டறியப்பட்டுள்ளன.மேலும் தற்போது மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு வரும் சாலை விரிவாக்கப் பணியின் போது சோழப் பெருவேந்தன் இராசராசனின் 25ஆம் ஆட்சி ஆண்டைச் சேர்ந்த (கி.பி1010)கல்வெட்டு ஒன்றும்,அதே காலத்தைச் சேர்ந்த நன்கொடை பற்றிய கல்வெட்டும் கிடைத்துள்ளது.
இராசராசன் கல்வெட்டில் அவனது மெய்க்கீர்த்தி மட்டுமே எழுதப்பட்டுள்ளது. மற்றொரு கல்வெட்டில் மேற்றளி(பெருமாள் கோயில் என்பது பொருள்)என்ற சொல்லும்,அக்கோயிலுக்கு நந்தவனம் அமைத்தல்,நொந்தாவிளக்கு (தினசரி)எரிக்கப்பட்டமை பற்றியும் உள்ளது.இக்கட்டளைக்காக எட்டு மா(ஒரு மா நிலம் இன்றைய அளவில் 34 சென்ட் நிலம்)நிலமும்,ஆறு காசுகளும் வழங்கப்பட்ட செய்தி இடம் பெற்றுள்ளது.இப்பகுதியில் பிராமணர் மகாசபை ஒன்று செயல்பட்டுள்ளது.அதில் ஓடானூர் நாராயணன்,வாசுதேவன்,கிரமவித்தன் என்ற ஆட்பெயர்களும் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.
மேலும் பாண்டியநாடு இராசராசன் காலம் முதல் மூன்றாம் குலத்துங்கச் சோழன் காலம் வரை சோழராட்சியின் கீழ் இருந்தது.அக்காலகட்டத்தில் இராசராச சோழன் கல்வெட்டுகள் தென்கரை,திருச்சுழி ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் இடம் பெற்றுள்ளன.இன்றைய திருப்புவனம் சிவன் கோயில் தேவார மூவரால் பாடல் பெற்ற தலமாகும்.ஆகவே இதன்காரணமாக இராசராச சோழன் அறக்கொடைகள் வழங்கியிருக்கலாம் என்றனர்.
