Dear Sivanadiyars,

I hope you all know about www.thevaaram.org which was a dream realized by Mr Maravanpulavu K Sachithananthan. (tami...@gmail.com). In this site, all 12 thirumurai songs with their meaning and the translation of the songs in various language are available. This site has helped so many people around the world. This site is very user-friendly with full text searching capability. It is an online thirumurai Temple. Currently Mr Sachithananthan is trying to add songs to it, please read the mail below for further details.

As of now I am in the process of negotiating with the copyright owners of musical renderings by Othuvaar Tharmapuram Swaminathan of the 10,000 or so thirumurai hymns, all of 1 to 7, thiruvaasagam of 8 all of 9 and parts of 11th thirumurais to have them included in this site for listeners of those hymns. In principle the owner of the copyright agreed to give us the rights to include them for listeners. We have agreed not to provide downloading facility but to provide a line in each hymn directing the listener to the site of the copyright owner to enable the listener to pay and download the desired hymn.

This is for you information.

If the owners agree, it will benefit those Saivaites and non Saivaites, viewing in as many as 11 scripts to hear the music, the rendering of the words of the hymns, while reading the text in the language of their choice.

It will directly facilitate those of the Diaspora (especially in Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Europe, North America, Mauritius, South Africa, Reunion, Malaysia, Singapore, Burma, Indonesia and those the Arabic countries) whose children do not know the Tamil script, but are using Roman or English script to learn the music of the hymns.

Also our non Tamil friends in countries interested in Tamil language and culture will benefit by this effort.

I seek the cooperation of well wishers amongst those affordable Saivaite Tamils to pledge a sizable portion towards the payment to the copyright holders as well as to towards the expenses in uploading the material into the site.
