Hello everyone,

While the biking season has wound down for most of us, the Riders have been very busy planning for next year and beyond. We have several major trail development projects in the works, most of which were detailed in our recent 2013 report.

One of the biggest opportunities (and challenges) facing the Riders is the Wu Ledges Town Forest management planning process. We have been involved with the Waitsfield Conservation Commission since 2006, when the town acquired this vital property and continue to offer support for a well built, sustainable, accessible, multi-use, four season trail network.

Many people know this area as Dennyland, and it has a large number of traditional bike, hike and ski routes that date back decades and longer. With incredible landscapes and views, and close access to downtown Waitsfield, Wu Ledges is an ideal addition to the Valley's official network.

After a long hiatus, the process is again moving and there are a few important ways that we can help ensure continued access for bikes. The easiest way is to follow this link, http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/wuledges and fill out the survey for Wu Ledges. You can also fill out this survey in paper form at various Waitsfield locations, including the town office.

Most importantly, there is a public forum on December 12th at 7PM. We need to help Waitsfield realize how key a great Wu Ledges multi-use network is for the health and sustainability of the Valley. Despite our long term commitment to the process, there remains a threat that we may lose this area. Please take the time to help maintain future Wu Ledges bike access and improve the livability of our community.
