Streetscape Community Improvements

Let me say that I am VERY excited for any type of improvements that
are to occur within this corridor. Of course the monies granted
should be used in the most responsible way and I fully support the
"greenest" proposals for improvements.
> YES, PLEASE PAINT THE BRIDGE! (I used to live in the apts at 104 3rd street before purchasing my house on library avenue) the trash and lack of landscaping/proper sidewalks really gives a bad image to an area with great potential. The funeral home on 3rd has done a great job of keeping up their property however, most in the area have not followed suit.
>A small park where the apartments are would be really nice, and also utilize the creek as a positive landscape, rather than hiding it. It's beyond the scope of this project but a trail along the creek would be ideal for residents and their children/pets.
> Lighting (Solar powered, if it's an option) would save the boroughs electrical bill long-term.
>Ensure that the sidewalks are durable and will last a sufficient timeframe - so many of the installed sidewalks in neighborhoods are cracked and cheaply poured. Quality over quantity is important, especially since (more than likely) a budget for upkeep would be minimal going forward.
>Unique and functional design are what will bring those who otherwise avoid this area. There is SO much car traffic within this area, that if the groundwork for businesses (other than pizza joints) is there (as well as parking) it would add to the main street experience and hopefully revitalize the portion of main street surrounding the historical society and pnc bank.
Looking forward to seeing more posts and any glimpses of the final
project plans. I am proud that my community is on the upward swing,
and hope that this project leads to other visual improvements in an
aread with great potential!
