Who's having fun? What are you all up to? Pictures anyone?

I'm having lots of fun! My extra long weekend has mostly been spent
catching up on sleep, eating way more than I should, and a mixture of
watching DVDs and reading books. Monday I also spent about two hours
out goofing off in the snow with my brother, an event that ended in a
massive snowball fight. After Monday most of the snow turned to ice in
my neighborhood, so I've been stuck in my house otherwise. Not that
I'm complaining all that much. I've managed to keep in touch with
people over skype, and I've also been able to get the school work that
I was able to bring home finished. I would say it's been a fairly
productive weekend!

An update on your assignments:you will get an extension on the
research paper. I've heard from several people who need books from the
library or Jstor which you can't access at home. My thinking is you
can have until Friday to finish the paper, but I need to check with
Mr. Burns first. Things will be very hectic when we get back to
school, so enjoy your time off, but don't put off everything until
next week! Brendan looks like he has the right idea -- getting some
school work done but taking time to catch up on sleep and lots of
relaxation too. This is very rare, so enjoy!

I'm loving this week off!! I'll admit, I haven't really done too much
homework, and the homework my teachers have assigned me I can't do
because I don't have my books! Oh well....
Anyway, I've spent a lot of time with my family since we were stuck in
the house for a good four days, but I guess that's good because soon
I'll be off to college and will be missing that family time. I played
in the snow with my brother the first day, and my brother tried to
pretend we were in a call of duty battle and our guns/grenades were
made of snow. I didn't really understand what was going on, but I did
throw my share of snowballs.
The next couple of days were kind of boring because the ice prevented
us from playing outside. On Wednesday, we needed milk and bread (how
stereotypical of a snowed-in family), so I volunteered to accompany my
dad to Publix. My dad has a Jeep Wrangler which is 4 wheel drive, so I
thought everything would be fine, but I was totally wrong. To get to
Publix, we had to drive down the hill on Harts Mill to Ashford
Dunwoody, and the hill was completely iced over. I felt like I was
going down an alpine ski jump. Many cars were stuck, run off the road
because of the ice, but thankfully my dad was able to maneuver the car
safely to and from Publix. This was definitely a wake-up call, and I
learned that I desperately need to learn how to drive in the snow and
ice, because that is going to be a daily thing when I go to college up
north!

Well, for about three days I got stranded at my friend's house while
he wasn't there. I can explain this. I went over to see my girlfriend,
who happens to live in the same neighborhood as one of my best
friends, on Tuesday. When school was called on Wednesday, my mom
decided it wasn't safe for me to drive back, so I had to walk from her
house to my friend's house, who was of course stuck at his
girlfriend's house, to spend the night there. The next day, the same
thing happened. On Thursday, my mom was finally able to pick me up,
but the three days I spent at my girlfriend's house were easily the
most fun days I had all break. Sledding on the secret hill in her
neighborhood was a blast, and watching movies in front of the
fireplace was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better break.
Of course, when I got back home on Thursday, I had to scramble to
start getting work done, but then we were given Friday off, allowing
me to relax a little and spend some time with my family. Friday, I did
nothing but work, mostly out of fear that all of our teachers will
slam us with work when we get back. Saturday, I took my girlfriend to
a movie and then watched in horror as the Falcons played what might be
the worst performance by a number one seed in the playoffs in NFL
history. That was just awful...
So overall, the break has been a lot of fun. I'm going tonight with my
girlfriend to see Elena Ricardo, who graduated two years ago, in Bring
It On! the Musical, which should e a blast. Hopefully by Monday I will
be able to compensate for the loss of the research I had done at
school and can put together a strong multigenre project.
Hope everyone else had a fun break as well :)

From Sunday until Wednesday four families in my neighborhood just
roamed between each other's houses. Each night a different family
cooked dinner for everyone, and every morning we had about 10 people
go to one of the neighbor's houses for p90x, the fitness dvd. This
got boring really quickly, so I tried to meet people at the concorde
soccer fields next to marist to play in the snow on wednesday. The
only problem is I live 4 miles from marist and the roads were still
too bad to drive. I decided to suck it up and run there. The run to
the soccer fields was fine, but I slipped on the ice and fell hard on
the way back. Then yesterday I went to the Falcons game. It started
off incredible. The crowd noise deafening when Weems returned the
kickoff 102 yds for a touchdown, putting the Falcons up 14-7. It was
all downhill from there.

This week off has been great! Because I wasn't able to get out of my
neighborhood, I instead played in the snow with my sister, slept a lot
(always a blessing), read(Portrait, The Help, and now onto The Kite
Runner), and watched some movies with nearby friends and family!
"Sledding" down the front hill of my yard on a skim board was
definitely an experience. The snow was definitely a wake up call to
how cold it would be if I end up at a northern college.
I can't honestly say that I worked a lot on homework for school, but
the free time gave me some much needed practice for my college
auditions. I was actually in New Orleans all day yesterday doing my
first audition for the music school at Loyola of New Orleans. After
the audition was done, I got to eat some amazing food and walk around
in the sunny French Quarter and Garden District - and the warmth was
very welcome after all this ice in Atlanta! Today, I got to see Bring
It On! the Musical with a friend, and it was great to see Elena
Ricardo up on the stage as a professional! The entire show was
stunning and I would definitely recommend it if you have time to go!
Overall, I'm very thankful for this week off, as it helped me to
prepare for the insanity that is going to be these next few weeks!

I wish we could have snow weeks more often. I got to catch up on
sleep, and I got to play in the snow every day with my brother! Well,
the snow was more like ice, but we managed. We took off the wheels
from my brother's skateboard and went "snowboarding" in our backyard.
And the snow on top of my car was actually soft, so we ended up making
a snowman on top of my car. Later in the week, my brother and I went
walking around the neighborhood to find a good hill to sled on. We
walked to this abandoned elementary school by my house and found some
really steep, fast hills. People had sledded on the hills earlier in
the week, so they were extra slippery and fast. Plus, there were
ledges and ramps that you could launch off of. We also discovered that
the ice on the road is really fun to run and slide on. The only
complaint I have about the snow is that I couldn't run outside, and I
hate running on treadmills.

I have had a good week overall. For the first couple of days, I
enjoyed sleeping in, not doing homework, and looking outside at the
snow. However, by Tuesday night, I had already felt the cabin fever
kicking in. Luckily, my best friend lives close to me so I was able to
go to her house and sleepover for the next two nights. We even got out
of the house a little bit - we ate out both nights and saw a few other
friends. We also baked possibly the best cookies I've ever made, which
I definitely ate too many of. I then came home Thursday afternoon, and
did some homework since I expected to have school on Friday. Once
again, we did not so I gave up on the homework and watched tv. This
weekend I was glad to get out of my house for a few days while
attending the Emmaus retreat. The retreat was so much fun, and I was
surprised to still see snow when I returned home. Though it has been
nice to have a week off, I learned that I really dislike snow and the
cold in general.

I love the snow.  On Monday, I went sledding at dunwoody country club and it was so much fun.  The rest of the week, I just relaxed and spent time with family and friends.  I read and watched movies and spent a lot of time outside.  Tuesday, I tried to go to swim practice, and our drive way was a sheet of ice.  My mom insisted on driving so she basically slid down the entire driveway.  I went outside to play in the snow and I found out that my dog is a whimp who hates being outside.  He came out and walked around in the snow for maybe two minutes and then started whining at the door to go back in.  I went on a lot of walks with my mom and just enjoyed spending some down time at home and sleeping in.

I had a wonderful 10 day weekend. I enjoyed the sledding and sleeping in . After about three days of being locked inside I ended up shoveling three driveways. I slipped a few times, but getting outside and shoveling some driveways kept me from going crazy. If I had known we were going to have an entire week of school off and a National Holiday to follow it up, I most likely would have gone on a nice family vacation. I hope that we do not lose our entire Easter Break.

The long break has been thoroughly enjoyable. My family traveled to
Miami during the weekend (not knowing it would snow the next couple of
days). The beach was phenomenal, and coming back to Atlanta was not at
the top of my list to be honest. My father decided to drive on the
terrifying highway after our arrival at the airport (it was quite the
experience). Aside from the inescapable ice taking over Atlanta, I
enjoyed the minimal sections of beautiful, white snow surrounding my
house. My entire family gathered together to build snowmen and have
competitive snowball fights. The ice caused my family to be trapped
inside our house, but we managed to make the best of it with hot
chocolate and childhood stories. This extra “winter break” brought my
family together and we have enjoyed each others company, snuggled up
in the warm house.

My break was relatively eventless. I was snowed in my house for
pretty much the whole week. I spent some of my time running around
outside in the snow. When I got tired of that, I watched TV, played
video games, and read. Thankfully, all the ice melted by the time I
started getting cabin fever. My break was relaxing, but the thought
of having to make up these missed school days scares me a little. I
don't want spring or easter break to be cut short.
