I'm running Windows 10, first of all. My fix was to right click on "epsxe.exe," click "Properties," select the "Compatibility" tab, click "Change High DPI Settings," and finally check the box next to "Override High DPI Scaling Behavior" with "Application" selected in the dropdown menu.

Thanks for the info! This is a bit off topic, I apologize in advance. But, will Duckstation allow for an up-res in visuals like epsxe? Also, is there a good thread for the best Retroarch PS1 core troubleshooting? Thanks again!

If you can't get the linux version running, you may want to consider running the windows version of epsxe through wine. It is a newer version and might run better anyway. It works perfectly in wine-- for me it runs much better and faster though wine then on windows. I dual-boot, so I've tried both. The plugins I use are gpupeteogl for graphics, the built in sound plugin, and the built in WNT/W2K core for cdrom.

I cannot get epsxe to run on my 64-bit Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I have tried Running ePsxe 1.9 on Ubuntu 13.10 but it still does not work. I have downloaded BIOS from (PSX BIOS Pack (15 Images) - PSX - SCPH1001.BIN). Every time I click Run BIOS, the program crashes.

Cool, thanks. I hated RetroArch's UI. PSX emulators have always been a real pain in the ass for me. epsxe just kind of sucks, Beetle on RetroArch has cool things like texture replacement, widescreen, and the ability to "fix" PSX wobbly geometry, but the interface sucks. I find PSX emulators to be more of a hassle than any other console. Still haven't found anything that can run DQVII without some kind of issue.

Reading through the comment threads on both the bin32-epsxe package and the epsxe package, I realize that in order to run the epsxe-plugin-gpu-xgl2 plugin I need to have the bin32-epsxe package installed. So I installed this package. The emulator runs, but crashes with the following error the moment I try to open the video configuration menu option:
