Be Bold Be Red Campaign: Women of Color Against Domestic Violence

This year, on the first anniversary of the Be Bold Be Red Campaign, we
invite you to make your bold stance against the violence enacted on
women and girls of color in our society visible. In D.C., Chicago,
Durham, Atlanta and Detroit women of color will be gathering to renew
our commitment to creating a world free from radicalized and gendered
violence, and this time, we’ll be using a new technology called
CyberQuilting to connect all of these gatherings in real time.

The event will take place between 6:30pm-8:30pm/est on October 30,
2008 at The New Detroit Summer Studio at the 555 Gallery.

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival,
this astonishingly powerful new documentary takes you inside Hurricane
Katrina in a way never before seen on screen. Incorporating remarkable
video shot by Kimberly Roberts – an aspiring rap artist trapped in the
devastated 9th Ward – Bowling for Columbine producers Lessin and Deal
weave this insider’s portrait with a stunning portrait of the
disaster’s aftermath. This is a redemptive tale of self-described
street hustlers who become heroes – two unforgettable survivors who
valiantly struggle to seize a chance for a new beginning.
