The CETE Summer School is a junior conference for young academics founded by the DAAD. It offers the opportunity of professional exchange and networking as well as workshops about methods, approaches and presenting in the research field of technology education.

The CETE Summer School wants to connect cross-national as well as interdisciplinary researchers and young academics for an exchange. It opens up a research-oriented forum for the accounted research potential still growing number of junior scientists who deal with technology education and its benefit and impact.

On the 23rd February 2018 24 pupils will have the opportunity to see the G-Lab of the workgroup "K-7" at the University of Duisburg-Essen from within. The "Schule an der Heinickestrae" has taken part in a research study about the technological self-concept of primary-school pupils. All of the classes which have participated in the study were put into a tombola and the prize was the invitation to this tech-event. This class which has won the tombola will build a vibrating robot, which is called the "Brsten Fuzzi" and after the construction process the children are asked to decorate them. We wish those little researchers to have a nice time in the lab, learning about robotics.

The annual Strategy Meeting of the CETE-Network took place from 18th till 19th October at the University of Duisburg-Essen. The Members of the Center of Excellence for Technology Education came from all over the world to review the last year of projects and to organise the up turning one. The members were informed about the latest outcomes around this project in plenty of talks und many questions were discussed and answered.

The CETE Strategy Meeting took place on the 20. and 21. October 2016 at the University of Duisburg-Essen. This strategy meeting helped our network to develop strategies to increase growth and to plan new actions to become more successful in the next years.

The CETE Summer School wants to connect cross-national as well as interdisciplinary researchers and young academics for an exchange. It opens up a research-oriented forum for the accounted research potential still growing number of junior scientists who deal with technology and engineering education and its benefit and impact.
The multidisciplinary exchange enables junior scientists to gather feedback and suggestions from different disciplinary perspectives and contributes to embedding individual projects from the fields of teaching methodology and educational sciences in the overall context of empirical educational research. By doing this the organisation supports the visibility of joint research interests and research topics. It establishes a starting position for joint evaluations and future interdisciplinary and location independent research efforts of universities.

The project's goal is to give parents and their children extracurricular opportunities to engage in technology and thusly, on the basis of technological workshops, provides an approach that is suitable for children. The workshop aims for a 'technological education' that focuses on interdependencies and the origination processes of technologies and on developing interest.

For this purpose, in march 2014 twelve parent-child-teams were invited to the Elementary School Research Laboratory (G-Lab) of the University of Duisburg-Essen for a morning workshop. The workshop was aimed at children between six and ten years. The parent-child-teams had varying degrees of experience with technology. With professional guidance, they engaged in technological problems and got some exemplary insight in basic technological areas. The teams got a construction task to be solved collaboratively. In regards to content, some areas of computer sciences and electrical engineering were addressed.
