Dear Garden Club Members,
Yay!! Spring has sprung! It may not feel like it today but the calendar, the tulips and daffodils all say that it is here!!
We will have our April meeting next Monday, April 13th at the home of Jeff Teeters, 413 Kensington Rd. We will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Jeff's patio (the high is forecast to be 80'). Jeff will prepare chicken on his smoker. Appetizers and sides are welcome. Please bring a dish to share.
The primary meeting activity will be the installation of a new perennial pollinator garden with native species (bring a trowel if you can). Last year we had several very inspiring speakers with substantive information on creating a beneficial ecology for essential pollinators. Jeff will purchase a variety of plants to demonstrate some of the principles of a native garden; seasonal blooms from spring to fall, color variation, repetition, varying heights and in our neighborhood- deer resistance.
Not a single member was available or willing to participate in the Trolley Garden work day last month. Thanks to a few hard working neighbors, Jeff had help to spruce up the median and it’s looking better all the time, but it’s the type of endeavor suited for an active garden club.
This leads us to our second topic for Monday night- the Ten Hills Garden Club as an ongoing organization. What to do about a diminished membership and low participation. If you have thoughts about this topic please try to attend or call one of our officers to discuss them.
See you on Monday!
