Hi all, I know some of you are interested in writing YA (or maybe you have
your own YA reader at home) so I hope you don't mind but here's the link to my
reader/writer friend Michael's book. He has gone straight for
self-publishing to get it out there while he works on other projects. I've
not read it yet but admire his writing tremendously and it should be a great
story. AJ Rogue is of course a pseudonym.
This is the link and the blurb
A young-adult thriller set in a lonely moorland
school, School's Out! follows seven friends as they strive through revolution,
revenge and romance.
With the hard-fought revolution at their school comes
freedom they'd never dreamt of, but as the teen heroes face up to the mysterious
nature of the place, the disintegrations of their own friendships and the threat
of a counter-attack, their situation becomes almost too frightening to bear.
Since their early days there, the secluded school has harboured secrecy. The
pupils have witnessed strange, often cruel behaviour from the staff. Sick of
their fate, Dominic Shotover leads them in a revolution, and as the celebrations
rock the ancient building, his closest friends form a triumphant band of
determined leaders.
There's fun to be had, and romance, but Dominic knows
there’s been corruption at the school. Only now it’s theirs can he really
discover what’s there. He begins to organise the group as best he can,
determined to explore the depths of the place before the outside world can crash
back in on what they have achieved.
The little gang of leaders starts falling
apart, though, as they succumb to jealousy and their many desires. Before long
it is not only the threat of attack that is troubling them; there are weird
noises from deep in the cellar tunnels and the mysteries the school holds are
more monstrous than they could have imagined. Gradually the many battles
increase, and even Dominic has secrets he hasn’t told the others.
cheers
Deirdre
