Because of the way this game plays out, and the fact that were tracking real time, it means that PCs have downtime between their adventures and expeditions out into the world.

I've never really done anything with this, and I don't remember anyone really asking, but it came up in the session on Saturday and I think it could work, provided that it's constrained in some way so that characters aren't just in downtime all the time. There are some example downtime activities listed in the Players Handbook, and covered online at https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/adventuring#DowntimeActivities

Mainly these seem to cover...
- research
- working an actual job
- crafting
- learning new skills and tools

As far as downtime goes, we've already incorporated this a little, for example Tagariel has been studying the Black Path at night, Torvar established a house of healing in the woods, and a group of players met with Kazkan to survey the plains. But there's no reason why we couldn't extend this to include study of Builder artifacts brought home from the outside world, etc.

If there's anything you'd like your characters to be getting up to between expeditions, either post something on this thread, or feel free to get in touch directly. It doesn't matter if your idea doesn't align perfectly with the ideas listed in the PHB, if it makes sense we can probably make something work.

We all know what Xyrxina's downtime is...

This is a good idea!

If I recall correctly, people skilled in herbalism (which Tagariel is) can gather herbs and craft basic like-in-the-PHB healing potions. So my downtime activity for the moment is creating 1 x [GM's judgment] healing potions, to be distributed amongst the explorers generally.

I mean I'll keep one or two for my own use, but I'm happy to share the rest.

Rory - let's say that since you got back, you have managed to craft 2 potions of healing. Crafting a common magical item would normally require a level 3 character with the relevant magical abilities, so in this case it has only been possible with the help of colleagues at the Tower of Arcane Wisdom. Tagariel wouldn't be able to do this "in the wild". Whether he wants to tell anyone that of course is another question entirely.
