First up, sorry for getting this up in our D&D fun, but this is by far the quickest and easiest way to diseminate my news across this particular group of folks - and it will have some impact on the game!

Ok, so as some of you know (apologies to those who don't, is srs bsns, you might want to save it for another time!), I was recently on the receiving end of a cancer diagnosis.  Now, I've been for all the scans, assesments and other stuff, and the news is that surgery should be the best way to deal with this for me.

I'm off for a pre-op assessment this afternoon, and if that goes well, I'm in for surgery next Friday, the 6th March!  If all goes well they'll chop out the offending chunk of bowel, splice it all back together, then I'll be recovering for 2-3 months, then I'll have to have another op (to close off the temporary stoma I'll be having), and after that I'll hopefully be getting back to some semblance of normal - though once they have the offending lump for study there may be more treatment needed - will have to wait and see on that front.

All of which means Zardan, having been on his first expedition, won't be available for a second once for a while.  I might be able to get to a game (or have one come to me...) after 4-6 weeks, but I really don't know yet - I'll keep you posted!

If you feel up to it while you're in post-surgery recovery, we can still involve Zardan in online shenanigans, downtime and plotting (though maybe not in front of Dracula!)

Rico had the op on Friday and it seems to have gone well with no complications. He's now in Firth 3 in the Northern General if anyone wants to say hi.

Visiting hours are 8-8;  Firth 3 can be accessed by going in the big shiny "Main Entrance to Hunstman Building", past the coffee shop, and carrying straight on for about 50 yards. There's a little blue sign above head height on the right around the time you get to the lifts that says "Firth 3" and that's the door you want.

I've been out since last Tuesday!

I feel great - much, much better than I have in aaaages!

I have some post-operative 'sore bits', and have to build my strength/stamina back up, but otherwise all is well!

spoke with my Consultant on the phone this morning.

Short version - ALL CLEAR!

Slightly longer version:  In a world without covid-19, he would want to do a short, prophylactic course of chemo (belt & braces), but in a world with covid-19, that only adds more and more risks, so no further treatment for me.
