Jon suggested we start planning the third annual THE UNIQUE GEEK Board of Directors dinner.  If you've never been, we agree upon a restaurant/date/time in advance.  Everyone is responsible for their own expenses.

There is lots of laughs, drinking, eating, laughing, mocking, and more drinking.  It's a great time and has quickly become a highlight of Dragon*Con for many of us.  Everyone on the listserv is invited, and can bring others (as long as they are cool people).  We just need a solid count in advance so we can request space at the restaurant.  We'll stay in touch via text messages/e-mail/Twitter on-site.  We'll share all that information as we get closer.

Now the important questions, what day, time, and type of food?  I'm fine with either Saturday or Sunday night.  Previously the NeedCoffee film fest made Saturday unavailable, however, that doesn't appear to be a concern this year.  I'm not particular about the type of food.  The mexican place last year was fine, as was the restaurant in the Hyatt the year before.

Anyone have strong feelings about the day?  We may have to finalize once a more secure schedule is published.

Thoughts?

Ignoring the original subject line, let's be clear that everyone who is on
this listserv is invited to the dinner, not just regular TUG members,
Board Member or Board Directors or whatever. Again, everyone on this
listserv that will be attending Dragon*Con is invited.
So, I want to state that my vote is for Sunday night.
Looking forward to it.

"The Board of Directors" tag is a joke.  As was outlined in the e-mail body, everyone is invited.  Like we really have a Board!  LOL!

Here are some pictures from the previous two "Board of Directors" THE UNIQUE GEEK dinners.

So I'm not on the board?  I guess I'll take it off my resume.

On Saturday and Sunday there are certain things of interest (that I
can't say just yet) that some folks might want to attend.

Personally, I am okay with a late night Thursday dinner (since most
folks are going to be there anyway) or Friday... Saturday and Sunday
(as I stated) are likely out for me. If you were going to miss one of
these 2 mystery events - Saturday would be the better one to miss I
would think.

As for where... While I LOVE Trader Vics - It can be expensive. The
"Mexican Place" was great and the Margaritas were inexpensive. I am
fine with either, but lean toward the less expensive option.

Regardless if anyone wants to meet up Thursday night let me know.  It's a short drive into Atlanta for me.

I would really like to come to the dinner! I haven't gotten to do
something like that since the glory days of the Avengers Dinners back
in the late 90s / early 00s. But, as has been discused plenty
already, until the schedules come out, I won't really know where I'm
supposed to be at any given time.

I am making an effort to limit the number of panels I'm doing this
year (last year's 18 was utterly insane), so maybe I can fit more
things like the dinner in.

Mike-- we're thinking of going to Everybody's Pizza near Emory on
Thursday night, if we're able to get to Atlanta in time for that to be
reasonable.

I haven't had their pizza since I was a grad student at Emory, about
12 years ago, so I've had plenty of time to build it up in my
mind. :-)

I think we need to hold off on times and days until at least the interim schedule comes out.  The Mexican place is good for me though.

Having the dinner right before/during the costume contest is a win, since that clears out a lot of the riffraff and makes it easier to get a table for 20 or whatever.  I think the costume contest is on Sunday evening?  If so, I vote for then—it worked really well last year and doesn’t really conflict with anything.
