The new books are:

--Talon by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Guillem March.

--Sword of Sorcery, an anthology S&S title.  The lead feature will me Amythest, Princess of Gemworld by Written by Christy Marx and Aaron Lopresti.  The initial backup will be Beowulf (Oh HELL YES!) by Tony Bedard and Jesus Saiz.

--The Phantom Stranger by Dan DiDio and Brent Anderson.

--Team 7 by Justin Jordan wand Jesus Merino.  This is set in the early days of the universe and features Amanda Waller, Dinah Lance (Black Canary), Steve Trevor, John Lynch, Alex Fairchild, Cole Cash (Grifter), and Slade Wilson (Deathstroke).

(Aside: I LOVE the 1970s DC Beowulf book.  One of the most insane comics I have ever read.  So glad to see him back!)

The only announced cancellation so far is Justice League International.  3 more titles will be cancelled to keep the ongoings at 52.

Zero Month takes place in September and serves as the launching point for the new books as well as a stand alone, origin/backstory tale for the other books.

Interesting stuff!  In regard to the cancellations, there are three left still unannounced.

If they look at sales figures, here are the bottom six titles from The New 52 in April (the most recent full month of data we have).  This is excluding titles that have already been announced as canceled:
  • Resurrection Man
  • Dc Universe Presents
  • Grifter
  • Blue Beetle
  • Voodoo
  • Captain Atom
Grifter seems like an obvious choice since he'll be appearing in the new title Team 7.

Keeping my fingers crossed Firestorm survives this next wave of cancellations!

I think we can strike DC Universe Presents as well.  All of the 4 cancelled titles end at #12 in August, but DCUP is going to have a #0 issue in September, according to DiDio.  It's going to be a 40 page page book with 4 features -- OMAC, Hawk & Dove, Mother Machine (from Blackhawks), and Mr. Terrific -- 4/6 of the initial cancellations.

Cancelling "DC Comics Presents" seems very likely with the introduction of other anthologies -- "Sword of Sorcery" and "National Comics".  Good call!

Actually I mis-typed that.  I meant that DCU Presents is not going to be one of the ones cancelled.

The 4 new titles all start with #0, and the 4 cancelled titles end with #12.  DCU Presents is going to have a #0, hence it would seem that it is not being cancelled, unless DCUP #0 is a "last hurrah" sort of book.

The solicits should make all of this clear soon enough.

According to the solicitation previews, it looks like Captain Atom and Resurrection Man will both have their Final Issues during Zero Month.

No ther series are tagged as "Final Issue" at this time; however, we are still waiting on the solicits from the Superman family titles and the Edge family titles.

Amazingly, Grifter, which I thought was a shoo-in to be cancelled, is still ongoing.

And Voodoo has just joined their ranks as well.  So it's JLI, Resurrection Man, Captain Atom, and Voodoo being cancelled to make room for Team 7, Sword of Sorcery, Talon, and Phantom Stranger.

Trading 4 books I don't read for 2 I intend to check out is a good deal in my book.

I'm really bummed about JLI, however, I figure there will be a new replacement Justice League book soon.  I just hope it's as good as JLI.  The more I think about it, I'm not sure I'm going to try any of the new four.  Not my bag.

At this point I will try any book Dan DiDio writes.  I have not read a story he has written that I didn't dig.  His Aquaman short from the Holiday Special, then Outsiders, then OMAC; I have enjoyed them all.

I have never read Amythest but I have heard very good thingd about it from a source I trust (Adama).  I am not sure if the new Beowulf will be related to the classic DC Beowulf, but I'm intrigued enough to give Sword of Sorcery a look.  (The classic DC Beowulf is bat-spit insane awesome.)

Unfortunately my monthly take of books continues to swell...
