Hello-

I'm really glad to see communications getting started again back on
the group. I think lots of great ideas are being tossed out and I hope
that some will come to being implemented. My thoughts are:

·Trash removal- I know that many people would prefer that we have a
trash removal company that provides trash cans, however, if the rates
we have now are good, why can we not add to the revised association
booklet that it is mandatory that all home owners purchase a trash can
(approx cost 20-30 dollars) and it must be used. Their can be a
citation form that can be filled out and submitted to the board for
non-complying residents. I really never noticed what an eye sore it
was until it was brought to my attention.

·Recycling-I am ready for the recycling program. I feel that now is
the time to preserve the future for our children and what a better way
to do it than to start now. I have inquired on having bins in the
community for participating residents, however, they do not provide to
townhouse communities at this time. There is not a simplified way to
recycle, however, there are close locations for drop offs. The closest
one I know about is the fire station on West End Drive. Just over a
mile away. Here's the comment from CVWMA.
Ms. Perkins,
Thank you for contacting CVWMA for assistance. We have been contacted
by residents of this neighborhood and have passed along these requests
for curbside recycling collection to Henrico County. Henrico funds
the program for their residents. We are able to add additional
neighborhoods periodically, based on the County's annual budget. You
are welcome to check back with us on the status of this neighborhood,
but at this point, we don't have authorization to add it yet.
Drop-off recycling centers in Henrico County are located at the
County's two solid waste collection centers and at many fire stations.
Henrico provides the most sites of any CVWMA member community, so that
recycling for homes not eligible for curbside recycling can be as
convenient as possible. Sites are listed at
http://www.cvwma.com/recycling_programs/dropoff_recycling/locations60.wbp.

Yard Service- I am in line with the rest of the comments on the
board. Our backyard is one to be reckoned with. We have grass climbing
our fence that has never been trimmed, nor has the grass around our
deck been trimmed and around the AC unit as well. The clippings are
being left choking out the rest of the grass making it almost a defeat
in having a nice lawn. We did not move to a community to have "yard
free" worries to have to need to purchase a trimmer and a rake and do
the work ourselves. We also have noticed lately that when the front
yard is being mowed, all of the clippings are ending up in the flower
beds making it quite difficult to keep a nice manicured edge. It's
just a big eye sore for us. I'm glad that Don has a meeting on Wed.
and hope that this will be addressed and corrected. We actually sent
pictures, as this has been an ongoing issue since we moved in, to the
association last year with no results.

·Committees- As there is a great need for volunteers, I have offered
on a couple of different occasions on heading a committee or being
part of a committee of any service needed that my husband and I will
do, however, no one has been in contact. There are many people in the
community ready to get together and make this a great community but if
we are offering and no one is accepting then what is one to do? I feel
that the lack of communication is what is holding Meredith Creek back.
I haven't known of a meeting in the year 2007 and just received the
first newsletter of the year this month. Again, we will help but can't
if no one extends a committee that needs volunteers.

I hope we can work on getting a meeting together to bring the
residents together. The neighbors I have met thus far are great!!

Andrew and Christine,

Thanks for all of the comments, interest, and concerns.  Our next Board meeting is June 12 at the clubhouse at 6:00 PM.  Please plan to attend if at all possible.  In no way am I making excuses for myself nor the remainder of the board.  I will take responsibility for not getting back with you regarding serving on a committee.  There are a large number of committees that need to be formed and overall the interest displayed does not even begin to fill the need, therefore I have not acted.   As far as a lot of people wanting to serve on committies that is news to me.  Please bring them to the next meeting with you.  As of now there are 5 board members that virtually do everything.  We recently had a workday in the community and three board members and two homeowners showed up.  Based on that I see very little commitment or involvement.  It becomes very discouraging when as board members we put in countless hours with the communitys best interest in mind and hear virtually nothing but complaints.  Feel free to email be directly at DMi...@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Don Mills
