Great news today!  Claire had her MRA of the head and neck yesterday at Nationwide Children’s and had her appointment with the doctor today to get the results.  The good news is the MRA was normal – no sign of FMD!  The next step is to schedule another MRA this fall of the abdominal arteries and hopefully also the chest arteries.  (The doctor wasn’t sure if all of that could be done at the same time).  If that MRA is also normal, the doctor will assume the FMD is confined to her left kidney – at least for now.  He did say that the MRA might not show all the vessels clearly, and there could still be a problem, but there is nothing apparent right now.  Claire will be monitored on a regular basis and of course will be checked anytime she becomes symptomatic.  Kerri said Claire will be scanned again sometime in the future, but maybe not for several years or more if all the MRA’s are all okay now, and she has no symptoms.  The doctor said he’d discuss future plans for her at the next appointment – after her next MRA.  He also eliminated one of her BP meds completely!

So for now, we are just so relieved and thankful that this test went well!  Claire was very anxious beforehand, but once again, she was a trooper and did great!  We all just got home from Columbus (we stayed at the hideout since the weekend so they could be close to the hospital, and Roger and I took care of Nora and Reid while they were gone.  We even had time for the Children’s Museum in Lancaster this morning before Claire’s appointment.  The kids had a great time and want to go back!

More good news for Claire is that since this MRA was normal and she won’t have any more tests until October or November, Kerri and Pat won’t have to postpone their planned trip to Disneyworld!  Claire deserves that trip more than anyone right now!  And she’s so excited about it.  Roger and I even get to go along!  Looking forward to it – just relaxing and putting all this behind us for now!

I will keep you posted on the next test results!  Thanks so much for all your prayers!  God is good!

Karen
