muzzle loaders

I question just came by me...

For the reenactors out there, any estimates on the number of muzzle
loading guns in the USA? I know there's supposed to be something like
300,000,000 firearms, but muzzle loaders aren't firearms (per BATFE and
even California).

So, any rough guesses? I know since these can be bought over the
counter it's like trying to count the number of TV sets in the country.

It is like trying to count their conceptual big brother, cannons. Many
unsafe ones are home made in garage workshops and resist counting. A
few even have rifling inside their barrels.
