Dear Suraya,
It’s now over six years since I first laid eyes on a skinny, hairless pup in the Soi Dog clinic.
He was only a few months old and had been found all alone at the side of the road by a passing driver.

We named him Shiver because he was so very cold.
|
|
|
Thanks to people like you, Shiver got the medical treatment he desperately needed. It took many months of intensive care under the watchful eye of our vets but gradually, his fur started to grow back, he gained weight, and he grew into a healthy dog. Sadly, what was a lot more difficult to change was his complete terror and refusal to let most people near him.

|
Whatever the horrors endured by Shiver before arriving at the Soi Dog shelter, he was left traumatised and scared of nearly everyone. Volunteers and staff did their best with him, but we feared he would never be ready to leave the safety of our shelter for a home of his own.
|
|
|

In all, Shiver spent over six years being cared for at the Soi Dog shelter and some days, I cannot believe he's gone. But in what I can only describe as a miracle, his future has taken an amazing turn and it simply couldn’t have happened without the ongoing support of people like you.

Today, Shiver lives in a very special home in Michigan, USA, having been adopted by Melissa and her family. Melissa has years of experience working with shut-down dogs and I couldn't have wished for a better home for Shiver.

|
|
After being scared of humans for so long, he now sleeps on Melissa’s bed at night and continues to make progress with each passing week. At this special time of year, he is a reminder that miracles can happen.
|
|
|
While this story has the happiest of endings, we were only able to take Shiver in and care for him thanks to support from animal lovers like you. And as you read this, there are many other Shivers that deserve the same chance. But if we are to help them, we desperately need you to be a part of it.
