"Thank you. It's over 300 years old. I'm not even sure how old it
really is. May even be older than me!" Shantiko says without revealing
her true age.
Shantiko enters the dojo and the first thing she notices is the large
burnt hole in the roof and the floor.
"Wh-what happened here!? Who did this!?" Shantiko says hoping someone
will hear her.
Mirai Hoshi comes into the room, avoiding the hole. She has a patch on
her face but appears to be uninjured besides that. Shantiko bows
respectfully.
"Master Hoshi. I have returned. Do we have a new enemy?" Shantiko asks.
"It appears that way. A strange man named Ryu came here demanding the
sword. He claims to be its rightful owner which would make him older
than you at least. He knows all about it. He knows more than even the
myths tell. It doesn't seem he can be persuaded not to take it. I was
spared only barely." Her master spoke and then looked down and paused.
"What else?" Shantiko asked she could tell there was more.
"He's very strong. I don't think any of us can defeat him." {JING}

"She is my new mate, master Hoshi-sama. I hope... it is not
inconvenient that I have one." She bows in an apologetic way.
Master Hoshi sighs.
"You've always been free to make that choice. But... remember what
I've told you about unnecessary burdens. Especially those of the
heart. They can be the heaviest."
"I know.. but sometimes being alone can be a heavier burden. I don't
want to be alone anymore."
"Then... you have made your choice. What does it matter if I
disagree." Master Hoshi says with another sigh. There's a pause and
then she says. "Akari, did you say you wanted to help us in our time
of need?" She asks.
Though she really needn't feel put out because Shantiko and the master
have had quite the discussion over this issue and only now has
Shantiko felt that she's found the person worthy of going against that
master's wishes. Thought that may be revealed later of course. Akari
doesn't know any of that.

"I'm not insane. Far from it. And I only asked. You may do as you
wish. But I must warn you this is a foe like none other. It may mean
the death of all of us if we oppose him." Master Hoshi tells Akari.
"Master... could he really be as strong as that? I don't want to die
for a sword..." Shantiko says. The sword was important but it wasn't
worth her life.
Master Hoshi looked incredulous for one instant.
"He summoned a chi so strong that Inari himself would flinch." The old
master said trying to make Shantiko understand.
"Master with all due respect, do not speak such of the great
Inari-sama. My Kami would not flinch even at great power."
"Akari..." She whispers and shakes her head. She doesn't want there to
be a fight between them. Shantiko highly respects her master.

Shantiko backs away behind her master gesturing very subtly for Akari
to do the same. If her master wants to fight him it may be best for
her to get to the sword before the strange man does.
Mirai Hoshi sighs. "I can see you are prudent in restricting your
wrath. What you did to my dojo will cost more than I can afford for
almost a half a year. I believe you can do worse. But... I won't be
cowed into submission like what you are probably used to. Please leave
peacefully. Come back in another 300 years if you want but please
leave us be."

"Come quick I know a place we can hide!" Shantiko says to Akari and
winks at her.
[please don't read her mind if you can at this part, Trav]
Shantiko takes Akari out of the room if she follows.

As soon he puts his hand on her head the master unsheathes her sword
slashing laterally all in one motion. A wave of force extends in the
shape of the arc of her slash outward toward Ryu.
She shouts something in archaic Japanese as a Kanji for her charm is
superimposed in the air. Her image blurs and shifts places randomly
before him.
"I wont make this easy on you. It'll take more than lightning bolts
and mind tricks to get that sword from me." She says and her voice
sounds like it is coming from all directions.
