Royale Weekly Mailer

Monday, August 29 - Sunday, September 4

After a major week, including our debut of the St. Louis Feast Day celebration here, along with a large chunk of our staff enjoying the heck out of themselves at LouFest, we’re playing it a bit easier this week. Good times every night, plus a few special treats.

Art Event: Thursday!

From our main man, Dana Smith:

Since December of 2010, I've been working on what has become three 36x36 inch canvases of the bar at The Royale. These pieces will be on display starting September 1 and we'll kick it off with an informal opening from 8 pm-10 pm. Also on display will be three older paintings of Mark Early, Steve Scariano and Typo Cafe (now home to STL-STyLe). DJ Mark Early will also be spinning records throughout the night.

DJ Schedule for the Week

Tuesday, 8/30: 3 Minute Record (writers of local blog spin three-minute songs ‘til close)*

Thursday,9/1: Mark Early (new wave, no wave, punk, disco, the way retro was meant to be spun)

Friday, 9/2: Jim Utz (rock, soul, R/B, from the famed Vintage Vinyl hype man)

Saturday, 9/3: Matt Harnish with the St. Louis Shuffle: Tower Groove Carnival Pre-Party Edition (all STL music, all night)

Every Week

We start with the week with Vinyl Side Mondays. Bring down some wax. Play a side of it. Order up a half-pint of beer if’n we like it, which we probably will. (That’s: probably. Make it good!)

We end the week with Cocktail Museum Sundays. Curator Robert Griffin reanimates the best classic drinks for the contemporary crowd. Kicks off as our kitchen closes at 9 p.m.

Holiday Note

The hard-working staff at The Royale salute the American working man and woman with a Labor Day tribute, by not opening for one-minute of the day. We’ll be closed at midnight on Sunday, September 4 and re-open for lunch and day-drinking at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 6. Enjoy your holiday, in whatever shape it comes to you.
