The Royale Monthly Newsletter
The Official Monthly Newsletter of The Royale
June, 2011 Edition

In a month without a host of major events and parties to attend to,
we’ll keep it relatively simple this time out, focusing on the basics.
For example, the patio at The Royale is open and ready for business.
Easy to remember, easy to enjoy.
Let’s start out with one event, then look at some of the weekly favorites.

LITERARY SPEED DATING - SUNDAY!
While we’re relatively light on special events this month, we will be
featuring a Literary Speed Dating Night, this Sunday, with the support
of Pudd’n’head Books.
Jane Henderson, the editor of the Post’s books section, has written up
a nice feature here:

Because it’s a Sunday night, we’ll also have the Cocktail Museum
Sunday in effect, and weekly curator Robert Griffin is presently
assembling a variety of literary-themed cocktails for the night.

BEER SHOWCASE TUESDAYS
Great deejays and great beer specials, every week, Tuesdays. Join
beertenders Matthew Thenhaus and John Fausz for limited edition casks,
discount nights and samplings. Always a hit, never a repeat.
Tonight: a beer showcase with a special cask of Aecht Schlenkerla
Märzen smoked beer from Bamberg Germany. Also, Kate Estwing of KDHX’s
“Beep Beep, Boop Boop” on the turntables.

BOOKS, REDUX
A few months back, bartender John Fausz constructed a nice little
bookshelf, featuring a pretty solid selection of titles. With tons of
St. Louis-related content, alongside many international classics, the
bookshelf’s a pretty smart compilation of titles, if we say so
ourselves. Next time you come in, grab a copy and read. If you want to
take one with you, do, but leave one on your next visit. And it’s bad
karma to grab a $50 coffee-table picture book, while leaving a
dog-eared copy of Alvin Toffler’s “Future Shock,” so don’t be that guy
(or gal).

Also, there’s another member of the Fausz family represented on the
wall. J. Frederick Fausz has recently published “Founding St. Louis:
First City of the New West” on the History Press imprint. We’ve got
copies of the book available for sale at the bar. Inquire, or take a
glance at the bar copy. (But leave that one with us.) Edu-ma-cate
yourself during your next visit.
