Royale Weekly Mailer

Monday, August 1 - Sunday August 7

Just as KSHE 95’s Monday Night Metal plays live on Tuesday nights, our inaugural Monday mailer comes out on a Tuesday. With that precedent now set of a flexible release date, let’s get to the good stuff...

Tuesday, August 2: It’s the Beer Showcase at The Royale, our weekly celebration of all things ale, when we’re happy to hoist some hops and like lager as our favorite libation. It’s also our first DJ shift of the week and this time out, we welcome Kate Estwing. As program director for KDHX, Kate hosts the danceriffic “Beep Beep, Boop Boop” on 88.1 fm. She’s been spinning here since the beginning of The Royale. (And boy, is she dizzy!) Good beer, good music. Only a few hours to enjoy it still. Drop on by.

Wednesday, August 3: At 6 p.m., we start drawing the goodness from a cask of Schlafly’s India Brown Ale. Schlafly cask nights always end up with an empty vessel, so stop by early for the IBA. Yum!

Thursday, August 4: All the usual good stuff, plus DJ Future God, aka Matt Burke, who spins your parents’ ‘80s vinyl with half-a-smile and no irony. ‘Cause as The Royale, we like to party all the time, party all the time party, all the time. Especially after the DJ rig gets set up at 10 p.m. After midnight, Fitz will be holding down the bar; argue with him about the best Replacements single.

Friday, August 5: Often imitated, never duplicated, it’s DJ Jim Utz. You like rock’n’soul? Then you like Jim Utz. It’s only supposed to cap out in the low-90s, so enjoy some dinner on the patio, too.

Saturday, August 6: Jason Potter and Morgan Nusbaum DJ from 10 p.m.-close, celebrating Jason's birthday there will be a tasty blend of late ‘70s and early ‘80s pop, wave and punk nuggets. And they dance while doing so! So should you.

Sunday: August 7: It’s the Cocktail Museum, with guest ‘tenders Ellie and Fausz. Tie a ribbon ‘round an old oak tree, then tie... a bow on your new week with classic cocktails. One of the most-lauded nights of the local cocktail scene, this week’s promises a special surprise in every glass.

Coming up:

Splash 'n Soul- family friendly benefit for Joplin tornado victims. 2-5 pm 8/21.

Saint Louis Feast Day 8/25 celebration of all things French

Free Drinks and Dinner Challenge: This week, food and drink is on us, if you’re able to bring Meisha Tate by The Royale. Tate’s the new StrikeForece women’s world MMA champion, at 135 pounds. Since her title win was in Chicago last weekend, we figure she might still be around the midwest; and all that fighting’s probably left her hungry and thirsty. Drop by with Meisha for your free meal and rounds, oh lucky winner.

Lastly: We lament the loss of a brick building on our block. Thanks for all the good wishes and notes of concern during last week’s week fire up the block. We’re safe, sound and ready to serve you.
