ClickHave Disk and then Browse. Browse to the folder that contains the driver you just downloaded. These files include all the information necessary for updating drivers.

Go to Audio, Video and Game Controller and look for the name of your sound card. It might include one of the popular sound, video, or game controllers visible in the screenshot below, or it may have another name entirely.

Avast Driver Updater scans your computer top to bottom, easily finds new or updated drivers for you, and keeps them updated automatically. It checks the compatibility of over 60 million drivers from more than 1,300 of the most well-known brands to make sure that your drivers get updated quickly and stay updated reliably.

But keep in mind that downloading drivers from third-party sites is risky and can expose you to malware and other threats. Only use sites you know and trust, or stick to the methods outlined above.

Periodically updating audio drivers can help avoid performance issues and introduce new product features. New audio driver packages may fix bugs that cause sound issues, while helping to enhance your sound devices. Generally, updating all your PC drivers will ensure your computer and accessories are functioning at their best.

If you are missing audio drivers on Windows 10 you have two options: you can run a Windows Update to automatically find new or missing audio drivers. Or you can use the Device Manager feature to search for missing audio drivers.

Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, is here. Hey, it is almost the weekend. In celebration of almost the weekend, I decided to get up early, fix a pot of Irish steel-cut oats, and a nice pot of English Breakfast tea. While the oats cooked, I used my Windows Surface to check my email. DB, this is when I ran across your email. Yes, Windows PowerShell can help in many different ways in looking at audio drivers.

The first thing to do is to find the audio device. To do this, use the WMI class Win32_SoundDevice WMI class. The Win32_SoundDevice WMI class tells me the device ID and the name of the audio device. The command is shown here.

Now that I have the path to the driver file, I can use the Get-Item cmdlet to retrieve version information. The first thing I need to do is to obtain the path to the driver. I can get this from the PathName property. I store it in a variable named $path. This is shown here.

I invite you to follow me on Twitter and Facebook. If you have any questions, send email to me at scri...@microsoft.com, or post your questions on the Official Scripting Guys Forum. See you tomorrow. Until then, peace.

Obviously there's some sort of conflict in a Windows 10 update that doesn't allow the correct sound drivers for the proudly stamped "BANG & OLUFSEN" hardware to function correctly. Most responses from HP on here suggest downloading the drivers from -en/drivers/laptops but none of them work. I've literally tried them all, with different compatibility settings and all sorts. I've been trying since I bought this laptop for 2,000 back in April and they all say they are not supported with the operating system. When speaking to support on the phone they said HP have been having problems with audio drivers for a long time now and there's nothing they can do.

Upon opening the downloaded file as administrator, the files were extracted to the hard drive and then a cmd window displayed saying "waiting for 4,3,2,1,0 seconds..." and then repeated this line many times until the window closed itself. I then rebooted but no HP Audio Control could be found.

It seems like an installer wizard should probably appear after the files are extracted to the hard drive but I just get the cmd prompt. With some other previous versions of the drivers a cmd prompt appears with "access denied".

I got the same exact problem, as well as several other HP customers, judging from these boards. How is HP not addressing this issue with a proper driver update? So disappointing. Any way to carry this problem over to the software developers so that this problem is addressed?

I feel you, one hundred percent. Made a test like this myself, with my hp pavillon g6 from 2013, speakers are so much more powerful than the B&O of the Omen I bought 2 months ago, on which I need subtitles to watch videos cause I can't hear what is being said.

I'm guessing they just don't know how to fix it. Maybe even it's something malicious with Microsoft. Either way it's looking like a court summons at this point, they probably won't even show up.

Today I opened video editing software and it immediately came up with an error stating it couldn't detect audio hardware. I wonder if there's any goodwill left on Bang & Olufsen's owner's balance sheet?

Guy's.. I've emailed all the addresses I can find. I've asked many times about this and had no response whatsoever. I have left a review which was never published on the manufacturers' website, So I'm going to present this case to legal and media for myself and all others who have purchased these laptops that are not as described and don't actually work properly.

You must understand the fundamentals of how drivers work in Windows operating systems. Knowing the fundamentals will help you make appropriate design decisions and allow you to streamline your development process. See Concepts for all driver developers.

Audio drivers in the Windows operating system versions from Windows XP to Windows Vista conform to WDM and use the kernel streaming components. To understand the driver design decisions that you must make, see Kernel Streaming, WDM Audio Drivers Overview and Introduction to WDM Audio Drivers.

For information about how to make design decisions, see Custom Audio Drivers, Audio Data Formats and Data Ranges. If you need help to decide the type of audio driver to learn about, see Custom Audio Driver Type Decision Tree.

Building a driver is not the same as building a user-mode application. See Developing, Testing, and Deploying Drivers for information about Windows driver build, debug, and test processes, and driver signing. See Driver Development Tools for information about building, testing, verifying, and debugging tools.

For information about how to develop an audio driver for your specific audio adapter, see Adapter Driver Construction. See Developing, Testing, and Deploying Drivers for information about iterative building, testing, and debugging. This process will help ensure that you build a driver that works.

The final step is to sign (optional) and distribute the driver. If your driver meets the quality standards that are defined for the Windows Certification Program, you can distribute it through the Microsoft Windows Update program. For more information, see Distributing a driver package.

I have windows 10 on my mid 2011 imac. All the other drivers are working perfectly except for the sound drivers. I had windows 8.1 previously on this imac and the audio drivers did not work there either, so im thinking its something im doing wrong rather than the mac itself. All it says is "No speakers or headphones are plugged in" Is there a way to connect my internal speaker that I use on the mac OS to windows? Other people I've seen on these forums have the same imac model as me and their sound drivers work fine, so there must be a solution to this, right? Any help is always appreciated!

Recently, I've had issues with my graphics card rendering so today I had to uninstall and reinstall with the newest version of the Radeon RX 580 drivers and it's clear from all my troubleshooting that AMD doesn't even support HDMI Audio anymore. That means my 4k awesome TV now can't use their graphics card and play audio through it. I do not have AMD Audio Drivers and they are not listed in driver install or available to download.

I looked everywhere in my computer for the drivers and it shows nothing installed. What's even more ridiculous is the installation page and all possible interfaces for the driver have absolutely no mention of audio/sound or audio settings and the amd website has no listings for audio or sound in all of its worthless help topics.

How exactly are you running a business and ignoring a major part of your product?!?! If you don't support something as basic as audio through an HDMI cable, then you shouldn't be selling graphics cards.

Bit difficult to give an accurate answer to your question/rant since you did not include any system specs. Assuming you are using Win 7 or 10 then the HDMI audio drivers are always included in the update package! If you install using the "Express Install" option then they should be automatically installed along with the video driver and Radeon Settings etc, if you choose the "Custom Install" option then you can, for example, select only the update for the HDMI audio drivers.

I've looked into the custom items that are downloaded in the driver and attempted multiple drivers and none contain the Audio Driver. Here are screenshots of my current settings as it has been downloaded from even rolled back versions:

I don't see any options to download audio drivers.

Worst of all, none of that information you just shared was something I could find anywhere on AMD's website. I'm not that well versed in computers, but when scanning their help topics, audio/sound is non-existent. I shouldn't have to go to this length for something as simple as an audio driver when AMD should have help somewhere for this.

The Custom Install option is suspiciously missing from new driver packages. I also have this "not plugged in" issue. Ongoing for months. I have all but given up. Expensive tv, expensive sound system, meticulously built htpc, all for not because of a driver problem. Is "custom install" hidden away now? Recommendations on rollback to audio drivers for an rx580 that actually install. I mean, the driver isn't in my device manager at all under "audio". I only have "general" tab in properties window when trying to get audio driver advanced options. Can't do anything when it thinks the card isn't there. Its is, of course, because all video is just fine. Lastly, this all worked for a few months, I have one hdmi cable from video card to hdmi one on samsung qled tv and arc out to my av unit. This worked like a dream, 120hz and full 5.1, 7.1 and ATMOS, just flawless. Then it was all taken away and its SO hard to get it right again. Forget the exact update where it happened, but it seemed to have killed or made some sort of audio driver conflict. Even with hd audio drivers disabled in bios, no dice. Any idea of how to get to a "custom install" package to try to force an audio driver install? The current installer only has "full install" "light install" and "driver only" as options. No "custom option anywhere. I do remember seeing this option in older installers.... Sorry to recurrent this but you did mention this "custom install" and it could possibly be the answer, its just that the option is seemingly gone. Thanks in advance if you have any tips.
